Nationwide makes you work hard for your refunds and puts up some unexplicable road blocks in the process.

I have 4 pets under Nationwide. On some claims, it is fairly easy to file and get reimbursed. But on more expensive claims, the process slows down and requires multiple follow-up calls to find out what is causing the delay --often needing additional info. When I tried to upgrade coverage on one of my cats, I was denied because she had been give a probiotic supplement for a two week period a year ago to stop diarrhea. She has no health issues and yet better coverage was denied. It can be very frustrating working with them. My vet has had to send appointment notes to them multiply times before they recognize that they do in fact have the info. Is this any better at other companies?

Best Pet Insurance Around

I've had Beaubear insured with (formerly VPI) Nationwide since he was 4 months old; he is now 11 years. Beau is a mischief maker and if there is any trouble to get into, he will find it. This company has been there for us all these years with wonderful support; they are always willing to go the distance and their claims processing is fast and user friendly. I don't know what I would have done without them. They are the best!

Paying it Forward

I am giving an 8 NOT because I have anything bad to say. I have 3 other Doxies that have Nationwide, and now we have Annie. Annie was a rescue dog, around 12-15 months old, blind and never been to a vet. I wanted her checked out right away, shots, spay...the whole 9 yards. There is a 14 day waiting for the insurance to kick in, does not seem like a long time, but when you are bringing a recuse (from a bad situation) into your home with other fur-kids, you might be putting your other fur-kids at risk. I did not want to wait the 14 days, so Annie went to the vet and the bill was OOP and I will not see any of that back. Maybe for rescue dogs, forgo the 14 day waiting for your Primary Vet visit. It would be a relief for everyone and saves money in the long run if your rescue kids has something that could be passed onto your other kids. ***I LOVE the people here!! Love the Insurance Company and I am glad my 4 fur-kids have it!! It is worth the piece of mind that you do have it for them. ****
