wonderful company

I have 3 doxies. Honey is a certified therapy dog with health problems with allergies, diabetes from prednisone with catarct removal and then a thrown disc. Was happy that most of my bills have been covered. She is a happy little girl that brings smiles to patients in hospitals and nursing homes along with sleeping thru a Pittsburgh Pirate pup night at the ball game. Spike is her cousin, has allergies as well, recently diagnosed with cushing's along with a small leiomyosarcoma that was removed several years ago. Harley, is a rescue smooth, doing well, on his way to be a therapy dog as well.

Great Service

I have been using VPI Pet Insurance since my dog Mrs. Beasley was born 8 years ago. My policy covers everything from annual check-ups to medical issues. My vet completes the insurance forms with me and VPI is very responsive in getting a payment and detailed manifest to me. I would highly recommend getting pet insurance from VPI as soon as your puppy is eligiable. This protects you against major and minor medical expenses and avoids any pre-existing condition issues.

Only good if your dog is healthy for over a year;

I adopted a new dog from the shelter. He was slighly under weight and still growing. In the first few weeks I had him I was over feeding him, but didn't quite know this yet. He would throw up about 10 minutes after eating then eat it. I took him to the vet and they gave me antibiotics just in case. I ended up reducing his food intake by 2 cups and changing his bowl, and that fixed it. No claim was made to VPI for that, but when I sent over all his medical records, they stated he has gastrointestonal disease as a pre-existing condition. Really? They gave two more pre-existing conditions as well. No thanks VPI, we are going elsewhere.

Pays very little, not worth it

Has a "schedule" of what little it will pay for a list of conditions, will not pay for anything else

Well worth it

I have had VPI for 2 years. This is the 1st time I used it on my dog Aries. My son discovered a lump on her top left shoulder so we took her to the vet. It cost me 800.00. VPI paid 780.00. Can't go wrong with that and I had piece of mind. Only thing I did not like is it took about a month to get the money back and no real details as to where we were on getting the money back. They still use checks which is rather odd. Should be direct deposit. If she gets another lump you do have to wait 1 year.
