Good experience but it could be improved

I signed up for pet insurance through an employer discount. I was very impressed with the marketing material and the fact of the quick turn around time for processing claims. When I went through the underwriting review, I asked if medical records would be needed now or later. They said no records are needed and if they were, they would request them from the veterinarian. However, when I submitted the first claims, I waited 30 days only to be advised records are pended and asked me to obtain the records. I was a little disappointed and frustrated that I waited 30 days just to be told records are needed even though they could've requested it from the vet directly (I believe it is in the fine print when I signed up). I requested records and was told I needed to allow 30 days for review. 30 days came and went. I had to call several times and finally on the 4th call, it was escalated... this has been well over the 30 day period. I wasn't happy and contemplated on switching insurance companies. I really hope the claims review process can be improved upon. On the bright side, once the payment is released through Chase, it is easy to sign up and the funds are deposited the next day.

Nationwide exceeded expectations in both reimbursement amount and speed of reimbursement in responding to our dog's back injury!

We were besides ourselves when our beloved dog Josie was clearly in pain and we didn't know why! We brought her to the (great) emergency vet, where they told us she likely had herniated discs but they wanted more information before recommending treatment. We wanted to get to the bottom of the problem so we could start to make her better! We had an MRI done, knowing that we would get some level of reimbursement and feeling like the cost would be worth it to help our pup. After a long several days at the vet and multiple prescriptions later, she has been feeling more like her happy self - and we are so relieved. We were thrilled to get a significant portion of our emergency vet costs reimbursed within a few days or our submission. We are so grateful! Thank you!
