Best Money Ever Spent!

We bought insurance for Rudy when he was 7 years old. He is now 14 1/2! We love nationwide! The claims service is so easy! Rudy is happy, he plays hard and most of all jumps off the couch everytime the door opens to greet us! He has had treatment for bladder cancer and just started a second round of chemo. Thank you for helping make his treatment possible! We tell everyone we know who has a pet about Nationwide, we would not be without it!

Thank god we have you as our insurer.

We have been very blessed that we have invested in Nationwide. Our pup is able to heal because they were able to help us pay for the cost!

Extremely long, difficult, and uncertain claim submission process.

Overall customer service was very slow at best and rude and unhelpful at worst. Every claim submission required multiple phone calls and none ever moved forward. The requirements for claims submissions are completely unclear in the first place, even something as simple as getting a veterinary letter stating that the dog should be on heart guard and frontline and submitting a claim for the purchase. Our dog's medical history review took over 4 months to get back, at which time you find out the excluded conditions and what you have been actually paying for during the past 4 months. While some excluded conditions were expected, others made no sense. e.g., our dog vomited once after being put on several medications post-surgery, which was mentioned in his medical records. This resulted in an exclusion for any future gastro-intestinal related problems, which any dog owner would know basically includes everything. We were told to submit records showing that gastroenteritis was resolved and that this exclusion MIGHT be removed. The dog was further excluded for any atopic or allergic dermatitis due to a skin rash of unknown origin that was actually determined not to be an atopic dermatitis by our vet but did result in a bacterial skin infection. This would basically exclude our dog from being treated for any future skin problems given the difficulty of pinning down the origins of rashes. I don't believe we ever once had a claim or any paperwork successfully processed and resolved, which inspires no confidence in any potential future coverage or reimbursement. Since we didn't feel like paying premiums for another 4+ months just for the privilege of finding out what is covered and what isn't, we canceled the plan and absorbed the sunken cost of having ever signed up for Nationwide Pet Insurance in the first place.

Partners in our pets' care from youth through their golden years

When our pets were younger, having insurance through Nationwide gave me peace of mind because I knew that if they had a medical emergency, I'd be able to take them to the vet and get them the care that they needed. Our pets are now all frosted faces, and I'm especially thankful that we have kept them insured with you because you have come through for us when our cocker spaniel, Mabu, got cancer (he's OK now!!!), and you came through for us when our little mixed breed, Pupusa, developed digestive issues (we're getting those treated!).
