How to Save Money at Millcreek Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The clinic and Dr. Ravitz were wonderful. They were extremely busy on a Sunday but were able to see my dog, who hadn't eaten in 3 days. They are a great alternative to Pet ER facilities who deal with more life-threatening issues. If you have a problem with your pet and don't think you should wait until your vet is available. I would recommend Millcreek Veterinary.

This clinic was amazing with my dog Montana. He had a golf ball size lump under his jaw and they saw him on a walk in. They took great care of him and explained everything to me on what could be wrong. He is now on some antibiotics and pain meds and has an appt to get his teeth cleaned and checked for dental issues.

We’re on the road from Canada and our dog got an ear infection. The staff at Millcreek turned a stressful experience into a pleasant visit (on a Sunday)! They were fast, professional, and trustworthy. I really believe that they cared about my dog’s health and ensuring her long term wellness. Thank you!!!

I've never in my 50+years had such an awful interaction with a vet clinic, with a nurse. I went to then and got my 12 week old puppy shots on a Tuesday today is Friday, I paid in full. I've never left a vet with an outstanding bill. I've been able to make payments etc but I've always paid them in full. My wonderful awesome social puppy has never arrived them neither, but you would have thought we had done horrible things personally to this"woman" this person whom is considered a nurse? Laughable. To me my puppies, my pets are part of my family I want the best for them no matter what. I expect a place that is there solely there to take care of your pets would have compassion, would be in the business because they care for the lives of pets. With the Millcreek Animal Hospital in Moab Utah that could not be farther from the truth. It was only about payment to front payment in full. That is literally all she said 3 times within 60 seconds. Sadly I have to have 2 jobs and I am in between checks I would pay in full in 5 days however that was ignored and simply repeated no I am sorry but WE have been burnt in the past. Let me explain I rescued a 4 week old puppy he was starved almost to death at 4 weeks , he is 12 weeks now and fast and happy until last night about 3am. He threw up began having stomach problems wouldn't drink water etc I was freaking out. PARVO screamed in my mind. I am a mess. I called the vet I took this puppy to to get his first round of shots 3 days ago. I begged for help. When I called she asked about payment before I could finish my sentence. I am crying in the phone and all she was concerned with is getting payment in full for everything+whatever else. She never asked about the puppy how he felt how I was never offered any advice to make him comfortable. Nothing at all. She was UNCARING, RUDE, DISMISSIVE, UNHELPFUL, COLD AND FOCUSED ONLY ON THE MONEY.. Thank God I called Dr Sorenson, also in Moab Utah, the guy who answered the phone right from the beginning asked about the puppy asked how I was etc . Told me to bring him in, I was scared because of my last phone call and told him my paycheck issue he did not even act worried. He said don't worry about that and explain a lot only a small payment when picking him up and make payments . He was more concerned in getting my baby out there and better with in 15 minutes I had my puppy to people I feel comfortable with leaving him with. They are amazing!!! All the stuff was very nice and caring to my two dogs. My baby Roco had a terminal disease, and Dr Burton took care of him all the way to his passing. She also clearly explained to me every step of the treatment (pros/cons). I feel so comfortable on having Rita in their hands. I have been in taking them to other clinics before with negative experiences. Millcreek clinic has been the best, 100% recommended.
