Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

UPDATE: Our experience here worsens as we are trying to keep our dog as comfortable as possible - the doctors aren't much help. And it's starting to feel like a huge money grab. We know these things aren't cheap, but to continuously charge us as a new patient and new case, is absurd when our dog has been seen for this same health issue every week this month. I am not convinced this is the best that can be done. Our experience with the ER doctors and our oncologist has been really great considering the circumstances. They have given us a lot of information and science about our pups condition. However, the biggest notes we have is on the front desk staff. They kind of suck at checking people in and have never given us an anticipated time frame unless asked. They are also really bad at communicating what they’re doing or waiting on. They’re somewhat dry and shockingly abrasive which is very off putting when I’m spending $5,000 and visibly sobbing over the difficult news I just received about my pet. Otherwise, we are glad to have brought our Duck here to get more answers on his health.

Our 14-year-old Dexter, developed gallbladder, liver and pancreas issues unexpectedly, and we had to rush him to this specialty clinic per the advise of his regular vet. The level of care, both medical and human touch was top-notch. We had multiple daily updates on his care and we were allowed to visit daily to make sure Dexter spent time with us. He was discharged today and we are forever grateful that our senior puppy is at the house with us again with a very clear follow up treatment so he can go back to his normal life. Thank you AVC team!

I did not have a good experience here yesterday when I brought my cat in. I was here for 6 hours waiting to see a doctor. It was around hour 4 that I asked for an update on my cat. They had already drawn labs and done imaging. I was basically in some sort of hostage situation where I'd probably still be charged for those services, even if I left at that point. So, I had no choice but to stay for results. I understand that patients are seen in order of triage, however if they were that overwhelmed where they couldn't spend 5 minutes with me (that's about how long I was with the vet when it was finally my turn) just to give me the results, which were non-urgent, then why not tell those who have been waiting for several hours that there are other urgent cares nearby they can go to? I only know about other urgent care places because I overheard the front desk talking about it amongst themselves. Thanks for sharing that information, ladies! In the meantime, I spent the entire holiday sitting there waiting with no updates on my cat, who was in a crate all that time. That's the last time I come here. The time I was here prior was not great, either. I thought maybe it was just a bad night. Nope, this is just how it is here. They are friendly but it's extremely expensive, and you could be spending most of the day waiting to hear what results are on your pet, if your not considered critical. No thanks.

AVC was there for us in an emergency. Our dog had a ruptured uterus and the team saved her and the viable puppies. Outstanding service.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS PLACE!!! Read the amount of pet deaths, and non care, I wish I would have seen the reviews before going, I was just scared and wanted help for my dog, take your pet to VCA Cottonwood ER Vet This place is disgustingly horrible! Took my dog in last night for something possibly stuck in his throat, he is a large loud pit, who is not aggressive in the slightest, just scared, not 1 person looked at him, not 1 person came in the room, they would make us leave him scared alone in the room to take our money, because they were scared of him, they said let us muzzle him so we can weigh and sedate him to get an X-ray, 4 hours later and still NOBODY came with the muzzle, nobody came to weigh him, nothing, he obviously was barking and trying to leave the room the entire time, after barking for a bit he started to bleed from his mouth, we told them he was getting worse and we were completely ignored, so I decided to leave and go elsewhere, the young scared blonde literally said “thank god” when I told her we were going elsewhere, they still tried to charge $1,200 for absolutely nothing, as they didn’t even come in the room!!! How can you have a job working with pets if you’re scared of them?!?!?! This place is only in it to collect a dollar, and they literally say that in some of their responses to Google reviews! They need to be shut down!
