How to Save Money at VCA Canada Credit Valley Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?
Pet Insurance Review makes it incredibly easy for pet parents to select an insurance provider they feel good about. You can use our handy comparison tool to get the gist of what a company offers. Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dishonest and Predatory – Stay Away I booked an appointment at this vet after seeing a promotion for a free first visit. When I called, they confirmed the appointment would be free and took down my information. I used my wife’s contact details, as she’s more available. After the visit, they charged me, claiming my wife had already brought in our dog and used up the free appointment. I asked why they didn’t mention that when I booked, especially since it was under the same contact information. They had no explanation, but they did promise that if I returned within 30 days for my dog’s rabies shot, the check-up would be free. I even called ahead to confirm this again before coming in. They assured me the check-up would be free. But when I arrived and my dog received the rabies shot, they charged me again. When I questioned the charge, they claimed that the vet taking my dog’s temperature and listening to his heart before the shot counted as the free check-up. I had only booked a rabies shot, and they performed these checks without asking or informing me beforehand. This was clearly misleading and dishonest. This clinic lies and misleads customers on purpose. I made it very clear from the start that I was on a tight budget, and they reassured me multiple times that the check-ups would be free—only to go back on their word and charge me anyway. These are predatory and unethical business practices. Check their Google reviews and Reddit threads — I’m not the only one with this kind of experience. Do not bring your pet here. They care more about money than honesty or your animal’s well-being.

I am came in with my cat who is usually very afraid of other people, but she was very calm with the staff at this hospital. They were very friendly and professional. The prices are reasonable and very affordable as well. I would definitely recommend this animal hospital, even for pet owners that live farther away, it is very worth it. Justin is one of the best, he explained the exam and procedures in a simple way and did a great job.

VCA Canada, is a conglomerate, that is only interested in taking more money from you than being a VET service. They moved from Streetsville to East Mississauga stating several false statements. 1 - They said that they could not find a location nearer to the old location since most places do not want a Vet practise in their premises. FALSE - They wanted out of the area. There were many locations empty needing tenants. 2 - They said that when the Postal Codes of clients were checked, it showed most were in the Hwy. 401 and Dixie Road area. FALSE - Hwy. 401 and Dixie is and industrial area ! No houses are even close to the area ! The new building, while not bad, should have been better designed. The first thing is the distance from customer parking. It's a good 5 minute walk, crossing a live lane of traffic. While not busy, care is needed. And no handicapped parking. Having a sick or lame pet makes it difficult getting your pet to the front door. The building faces south, which means bright sunshine most of the day. Anyone that has been in Room 4 knows the problem. It's a small room that gets so hot, it's not a good place for a sick pet or clients to spend much time in. VCA Canada does a poor job of having enough staff on duty to operate a properly staffed Vet Practise. They have been running on one full-time vet, plus part time Vets, when VCA decides to book them. On surgery days, the Vet doing surgery is the only one on site. July 2025 had the office on Fridays was only open for item pick ups, food and prescriptions, no Vet on site. August 2025 the office was closed on Fridays. They have lost 4 staff over the past 5 months. The full time Vet went on maternity leave, meaning part timers to fill in. They only have one RVT, meaning one day has none. The web site lacks many updates. Open hour changes have been incorrect and not changed A.S.A.P. The pictures of staff are years out of date. Some staff have not been there for years. I must say that the staff does an amazing job considering the lack of staff to run the practise properly.

This is hands down the best veterinarian clinic in Mississauga and area - amazing customer service and professionalism on all levels. The front counter staff are kind and courteous. The vet techs are knowledgeable and friendly. Dr. Rennick is compassionate and caring and always takes the time to explain any medical concerns or medication requirements without rushing through information. Joining Care Club has turned out to be a good decision for us - I would highly recommend this option. Our dog Ozzy has been coming here since he was a puppy and, as strange as it seems, he loves his visits. He literally gets excited when we pull up in the parking lot. I think that really says a lot about how the staff at VCA Credit Valley Animal Hospital treat the pets in their care. Ozzy can be a bit temperamental sometimes, but as my 12 year old daughter says, the staff “get him”. I’m so glad this clinic was recommended to me by one of my neighbours. I have also recommended it to friends and family as I know their four-legged friends will be taken just as good care of as our Ozzy Bear.
