How to Save Money at Tomken Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My cat ate a piece of a flip flop, and I went to two different vets and an emergency clinic for it. God sent me Dr. Sammy, who followed up with me until 2 AM while I was in the emergency room, answering my calls and text messages for three days. Then he and his amazing team performed surgery, and finally, my cat is happy and healthy. Sammy is one of the best vets who truly cares for and loves pets. While many vets prioritize money, Dr. Sammy was incredibly caring, and his prices were affordable. I highly recommend him to all my friends with pets and anyone looking for an amazing vet. You won’t find anyone like him; he is one of a kind. Thank you so much, Dr. Sammy, for saving my baby boy Sultan and giving me hope when I was feeling down.

I came to Tomken for the dental offer they had for my cat. Dr Wally was kind and gentle with my cat, he took time to go over the cleaning procedure and what would be required in the event in an extraction. I then met with Dr Sami who was whimsical yet honest and direct. My cat was treated with affection from everyone including the vet techs. I was communicated with every step of the way during the procedure, I was asked for permission with extractions. I must note that the communication of costs was clear and I felt no pressure to proceed. This clinic made me feel comfortable and confident not rushed nor pressured and for that I give them a 5 star

Best veterinary clinic imaginable. Dr. Sami and his team provided exemplary care far beyond anything I could have expected when my 90 pound border collie/german shepherd cross suddenly became ill. They didn’t flinch at his reactivity and performed diagnostic tests with the utmost competence and expertise. Dr Sami calmed us both and was able to help my dog recover quickly. The facilities are spotless and very well equipped to provide the best of care. Dr. Sami was easily accessible, kept in constant contact with test results and followed up at regular intervals to make sure that all was well. Veterinary medicine isn’t cheap but Dr. Sami does his best to keep cost down for his clients and explains the various options thoroughly. I highly recommend this clinic.

This is a brand new beautiful clinic, easily the nicest one I’ve been to. Dr. Sami and his team are very knowledgeable and friendly. I had a dog emergency today and they took care of my dog and informed me on all of the post operation steps. Very great experience here and I am definitely switching this to my main veterinary. Highly recommend

From the first time I called the clinic for an emergency Ultrasound, the care & attention given to our 15 month old golden doodle was over and above one's expectation. Dr. Sami arranged to get a tech within the hour to do the ultrasound. it does not stop there, he was constantly in touch with us & other specialist doctors to ensure we get to the bottom of what was medically wrong with our puppy. Dr. Sami was very patient with us and his team was amazing. Fortunately, we figured out what was the issue & now our dog is on the road of recovery. Dr. Sami's team does regular follow ups with us to inquire about his health. We are truly thankful for finding Dr. Sami just by chance & will be more than happy to make him our Vet moving forward. Thank you Dr. Sami & team Love Simbaa
