How to Save Money at VCA Lynn Valley Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Our pup got very sick, very suddenly. We brought her here first and she did receive good care and had a number of tests done. My issue was after we had our visit, our pup deteriorated very quickly and we had to take her to a 24hr clinic where she stayed for 4 days. Then we had troubles getting ahold of Lynn Valley Vet to get her test results which led to us paying for some tests twice. I called several times and the vets never called back with her test results. In the end, the front desk person (who was awesome) forwarded me the test results with no vet interpretation, so the next vet could compare the two sets of tests. Everyone was really nice and professional, but it was hard to get the vets to contact us in a very stressful time.

This is amazing place, staffed with very caring people. My pet went through a recent health scare (rapid onset pneumonia) and the folks at LVVC took great care of him, and me. I appreciated how quickly the front desk team was able to put me at ease and fit my dog in for an emergency visit. If you are looking for a responsive team of pet experts, this is it. Thanks again LVVC!

When I got my first dog, it wasn't long before I learned that not all vets are created equal. Unfortunately, there are many pill pusher and fear-mongering veterinarians however, Lynn Valley Veterinary Clinic is not one of them. My French Bulldog has seen a handful of vets since becoming a patient at the clinic and, of course, I've found that some of the vets are better aligned with my dog-parenting philosophy than others (i.e. raw food diet), but overall they've all been great and I know the clinic is working to create more consistency around the vet your pet will see. Dr. Lauren Stone-Mockler has become our go-to vet, and we feel so lucky to have her. She's gotten us through some stressful situations. She's patient and kind and never makes me feel rushed, ensuring all of my concerns are addressed. I also have to give a shout-out to Dr. Fok who provided pragmatic and pressure-free advice when deciding whether the out-of-pocket cardiologist exam would be worthwhile to further diagnose my dog's heart murmur. I left that appointment feeling empowered and educated to make the decision that was best for us. I'm a huge fan of this clinic and, if you're lucky enough that they're accepting new patients, you'll definitely want to jump on it!

We are truly grateful and very appreciative of the wonderful staff and treatment our three-legged dog, Lulu, received at Lynn Valley Veterinary Clinic. We saw Dr. Janet Maclean and the experience was genuinely wonderful! We had no choice but to book an appointment on a weekend, and Dr. Maclean shuffled her lunch in order to care for Lulu. We are very glad to have Lynn Valley as our clinic and wish nothing but the best for this wonderful Veterinary Clinic. From the Assistants to the Veterinary Technicians to the Doctor(s) 5 Star all the way through. Thank you very much for getting our pooch-best-friend back to health

I have had dogs all my life. I have never had a clinic that has treated my family the way that Lynn Valley has. Kind, compassionate, understanding! My guy Floyd has been looked after and pampered by the staff there. He actually enjoys going to the vet. They have done many surgeries over the years with always fantastic results. I would would never take him anywhere else.
