My Christmas Miracle
Last Sept/Oct My pet, chewbacca, was diagnosed with a tumor in his stomach. Without surgery he would likely die. So I was directed by his vet, after x-rays and a blood test to get an ultrasound on his tummy. During this process the ultrasound vet suggested that I get a cardiologist to examine Chewbaccas heart to make sure he could survive the surgery. So I was sent to another extreme care vet for the heart ultrasound. Each of these required that I pay a deductible, but the procedures needed to get done if he was to have a chance at surgery. The heart ultrasound found a heart murmur that would need medication, the stomach ultrasound found that the tumor was attached to puppy's liver, but not in a place that would forbid surgery. So they booked the surgery and I was careful not to have chewbacca do too much strenuous activity. The day came and I dropped Chewbacca off and hoped for the best. Later that day the surgeon called me and said puppy came through very well and would be able to go home the next day. So the next day I picked him up and he was in pretty rough shape as any of us would be after that kind of surgery. I would need to care for the surgery site to avoid any infection. The claims process was completely seamless. With all the stress and emotions of the day and worrying about my friend of 11 years, it was wonderful not to have to worry about additional charges or the nuances that come with a major surgery's paperwork. The Vet offices did most of the paper work and i could concentrate on helping puppy do the daily things he needed to. It's been 6 months and Chewbacca is in great shape. He walks and runs and plays like the surgery didn't happen. He's happy, hates taking his pills but is back to how he was before the tumor. I cannot imagine going through this without Trupanion.
