Dishonest about deductibles
So my dog goes through a surgery that costs $876 and for the first time I file a claim. They say there is a $700 deductible on our policy. They divide $876 by 2, make it $438, and apply two instances of the 438 towards 2 $700 deductible! Is this how deductible works? not in any other life I have lived. The lady on the customer service team literally tells me every case has a deductible! so if tomorrow my dog becomes sick with a new case, there is another 700 that we need to meet! Just want to make sure those reading comments know how this works. It's unfortunate that I switched to Trupanion and will switch out of it some time soon.

Was an ASPCA guardian member for years…
Was an ASPCA guardian member for years so when recently rescued 2 dogs who needed a home thought we would try ASPCA pet insurance. What a mistake. Of course, even though they had been fostered/in apparent good condition 3 yr olds, we needed to update vaccines, do wellness visits & do dental maintenance. We received small reimbursements for what was covered but when the vet discovered several loose teeth requiring removal it has been a nightmare of ASPCA Pet Health “Insurance”emails claiming they have not received my repeated supply of all medical records, even after I requested they reply as “received”and have sent them multiple times. On hold for hours on service line, never able to speak with someone. Recording says they are managed by large insurance companies and not ASPCA.

Thank you Trupanion, you save my Dogs life and possibly my marriage.
Woke up to find blood filled vomit on our rugs and a very sick boy. We did go to the local vet and paid $100 for a check up, antibiotics, and something to coat the stomach - and advice to wait and see. Listless for days our normally bouncy boy just lay there. Decided to take him to a Vet hospital - blood work, an ultrasound later - we were at $1200 - with a $1000 deductible - insurance seemed irrelevant at that point, but then we learned something was blocking Peeve's intestine and surgery would be required. A child's plastic food toy later removed and a new total bill on about $5000 ... at pick up I mentioned we had the insurance and within minutes and direct billed our new total was $1750 (Deductible + 10% + taxes). Honestly - if we didn't have the insurance - I likely would have paid the $5000 - but had it been more - my wife's heart may have broken as we faced a financial reality despite our love of Peeve. I will so happily continue with Trupanion - I really hope we just pay them with no further need such that Trupanion returns to profit on Peeve and so the company continues to assist without hesitation others.

Good peace of mind when needing pet care
Excellent fast and knowledgeable service. Its like any insurance company. You only know how good they are when you need their service. Trupanion lived up to our expectation in what we were hoping to get when we got pet insurance for our dog.

Ridiculous
Took 45 days to be reimbursed for my simple wellness claim. The UI on the app only allowed for a single page document. However, it needed a summary of care and a receipt showing it was payed. These did not come on the same sheet which created a hassle trying to get the claim even accepted. But the worst part is that I signed up for the policy with 2 cats, and paid double so that both my cats had separate coverage. But since they both fell under the same policy, they both only fell under a single wellness plan. So the maximum reimbursement amount I would be allowed to receive for wellness treatments would be the same as if I had a single cat on the policy. I wish I knew this before having a number of wellness treatments done on my cats, racking up a few hundred dollars in bills that I had assumed I was going to be reimbursed for (hence the whole point behind getting pet insurance with a good wellness plan). But I guess that's on me for expecting that since I was paying double to get separate coverage, I'd have double the maximum amount I could be reimbursed for. Silly me.

Vet Bill processing
I uploaded copy of my vet bill and cy of paid receipt. I started receiving automated messages that more info was needed. Not clear what was needed. Since it was a holiday weekend, I waited and called today. Very helpful customer Rep checked it out and found it was already processed. Don’t know why I kept receiving the automated messages. There seems to be a glitch in your system. Always worked smoothly before
