Excellent customer service
I have been a Healthy Paws customer for my two dogs for three years. Healthy Paws processes claims using a simple, user friendly process in a very short time. They are always helpful, and even sent a personal message recently to ask how my dog was doing after major surgery for a new cancer diagnosis, which touched my heart. I would recommend them highly to anyone looking for superb service.

It was great until they wanted to…
It was great until they wanted to nearly double my monthly premiums for my cat and two dogs when I moved 15 minutes across the city and refused to budge even a cent. Was a customer for three years and would never have given a thought to looking for a new insurer for the lifetime of these pets or any future ones. Throughout my attempts to remain a customer, they never gave me anything more than a stock answer that they take geographic location into consideration as a factor. Well, other insurers don't care which of the two postal codes I live in. I can no longer recommend this service to anyone because I sure wouldn't want a friend to also move 15 minutes across a city and regret having not gone with an insurer who doesn't penalize you improving your living situation. Edit: Trupanion has helpfully responded to me here with the same stock answer they've given me on two phone calls and through their online team. They've refused to budge on every occasion, and made no attempt to keep me when I called a third time to cancel.

Not Totally impressed so far - We shall see
I just joined and the coverage won’t kick in for another week. However, I was less than impressed when I had to manually add my local vet and was told it would “take a while” for that to be on my plan. Seriously— if we have to file a claim and you tell me my vet is not in my account, I will go ballistic and definitely will quit. My dog only sees our local veterinarian so trust me— she had better be on your list if the need arises.

Some good and some frustrations
The turn around time is very lengthy for reimbursement at times. Coverage of certain medications is inconsistent. The good news is their rates don’t increase a lot as my dog has gotten older and more needs. They are also good about communication and their site is very easy to use.
