A Lifesaver!

I couldn't be happier to have Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. My sweet little rescue pup has multiple allergies resulting in hair loss. Being able to get him the proper care to address his issues and give him the best possible quality of life without having to worry about the expense is incredibly helpful. Healthy Paws has been so quick to process claims, literally payment shows up in my account within a day or two. I'm very impressed with their service & follow-through.

I just secured insurance for my ā€œgirlsā€ Izzie and Bella. That was easy. I was wondering if the monthly premium can be deducted from my checking account instead of the credit card. I don’t believe there’s an option listed. Thank you 😊

Terrible - with an update to the company response below

Great rate starting. My dog is now 4 years old and very healthy. Somehow my premiums increased from the original rate of $33.61 on 3/11/19 to the absolutely absurd $70.62 they are now charging me as of 3/11/22. Don’t worry, they totally let me know about the price increases by creating a document and stuffing it deep in the archives of my online account…you know, a very accessible place that most normal people check on a regular basis…oh wait, no, I never received an email or letter in the mail, and I never checked the documents in my profile, so I was never notified. I’m no mathematician, but a 110% increase in only 3 years with NO claims that they had to pay me out for seems ridiculous. It’s a simple bait and switch…preying on peoples fears of the unknown. Now, they will claim that rates are adjusted to reflect market price for vet services, inflation, etc, but nothing has gone up 110% in the pet world. Pretty sure my vets prices are somewhat similar to when I started going there. This is a terrible business model. Provide affordable coverage for young dogs, jack the price up significantly, and make sure that by the time a dog is old and would need medical attention, the customer would have already canceled the policy because they could not afford it. If you are thinking of getting this insurance, consider that I am paying $847 a year for the coverage (22-23). That is in addition to the $678 (21-22), $522 (20-21) and $403 (19-20) I’ve paid them for the past years. That’s $2,450 that I’ve given them to ā€œprotectā€ my perfectly healthy young dog. By the time I would need coverage, I would’ve already paid more in insurance than I would’ve paid out of pocket. Then again, if something unexpected happened to the dog, I would’ve needed the coverage. But like I said, that’s their business model…prey on your fear. I wish nothing good for these people who make the policies to screw over people who try to do the right thing for their pets. I hope they get theirs one day. An update to answer the company response below: No one likes premium increases, thank you for pointing that out. Please explain, on this public forum, why an insurance premium increase of 110% is appropriate within 3 years. No need to access my account to identify the ā€œfactorsā€ that contributed to the increase. All I’ve done is pay you. No claims on my end that make my account a higher risk than anyone else. Please enlighten us. And if your sticking point is you’ve sent an email with the increase information (maybe I missed it), you are missing the point. I don’t care about it not being communicated. I care about your ridiculous, unjustified price hikes. Shame on you for your bullsh*t generic rhetoric that you would like to speak with me about the increase. We both know ANOTHER conversation about it will not change a single thing.

Trupanion has been the best investment…

Trupanion has been the best investment we ever could have made. When our healthy/fit 4yr old Rottie mix suddenly required TPLO surgery, we were thanking god we had this coverage. We were able to do direct billing right at the vet and it was such an easy process. Since then our dog has had one thing after another going on and Trupanion has had a LOT of claims from us. It’s always a flawless and easy experience and the claims come back super quick. I can honestly say, without Trupanion our dog likely wouldn’t be alive right now as we navigate pin pointing what’s going on with her. We’ve learned since signing up with Trupanion and talking with other dog owners with other insurance providers just how superior Trupanion is verses other providers out there. We will never own a dog again without this insurance. Something I never thought I would ever say about a insurance provider. Their monthly premium may be higher than others but if and when you have a dog suddenly get sick, require surgery or develop any lifelong issues unless you have thousands of $$$$ sitting around in your bank account to cover the $10,000 surgery.. that $80/m (based on breed factors.. ours may be high) will be the best monthly bill your paying for and a reliable provider working for you. Pretty sure we have submitted around $20,000 so far. Can’t stress the value of this insurance enough or how easy they are to work with.
