Decent coverage but slow and unintuitive
Pets Best definitely has great coverage. The only thing it did not cover was my dogs' periodontal disease (which I believe they should cover, it was random and unexpected). The process of getting the case reviewed was long and unclear; we received notifications that information was missing but never exactly what information that was, if they were doing something to obtain it themselves, or if there was something we needed to do. I found myself calling multiple times to move the claim forward. All in all, I'm glad around 60% of the claim was covered and quickly paid once it was approved.

Top 3 of what I researched...Claims have been easy and convenient so far.
I've only been a member of Pumpkin for 2-weeks. However, they were ranked in the top 3 of insurance companies I reviewed (Pets Best and Spot were the other top 3). Overall, they had great reviews and also for knee repairs there was no mandatory 6 month waiting period (some companies make you wait a certain period of time before surgery on the knee like an ACL). I've already submitted two wellness visits and the online submission was very easy. Also, payment was wired directly into my account which was super convenient. Overall, do your research (Pets Best, Spot, Pumpkin, Embrace and Lemonade) were the top 5 I researched. So far, I'm happy with my choice with the limited experience I have so far.

Something has gone entirely wrong with this company. Have had ups and downs over the years but had been fairly happy until the last year. Just a nightmare. Any excuse not to process anything, cover anything or pay is used. Avoid like the plague.

Best decision in pet ownership
We bought this policy over 10 years ago when our Toby was just a pup. We continued to pay premiums with no claims in those 10 years, we had a healthy pup. While I started to second guess our need for the insurance those thought were put to rest last year 2020 was terrible and one of the worst things was, a car hit our toby. Well over 11 THOUSAND dollars in emergency vet bills later, we only paid 2 thousand dollars. We were sold on the policy, but recent events completely sold us on the company. This past 2 months we spent another 3 thousand dollars on dental work. We found out that emergency vet never x-rayed Toby's face after direct impact with the car's tire. On a routine check up, his regular vet discovered broken teeth below the gumline that needed extractions, a result of his accident that wasn't initially discovered. The extractions led to complications and colitis in Toby. Mind you this is OVER A YEAR after the initial accident. Well I'm am pleased to say this company was so stand up about everything. After submitting a little documentation, they rolled it into the initial claim, and did not charge us another deductible. 90% of another 3K bill was covered. Not only is the company stand up, but EVERY SINGLE AGENT we've spoken to, was nothing less than kind, compassionate, responsive, and competent. We couldn't be happier with Trupanion. It's the peace of mind , and financial security every pet owner needs!!!
