Pleasant experience with our first few claims.
Easy to get in touch with a live chat customer representative. Claims are handled promptly within reasonable processing and review time. Communication has been quite good.

Metlife Better Deal
Had to get pet insurance when getting our Bernese Mountain Dog, required by breeder. They provided Fetch Pet insurance. It never paid hardly anything for any claim sent in. I was able to get a "Family Plan" here with MetLife Pet Insurance for 3 pets for less than what I was paying for individual with Fetch.

Losing my interest in recommending them
Once again they questioned the vet and their billing despite giving them the paperwork that was accepted in the past. Becoming too expensive. Went from $858.60 in 2023 to $3902.88 in 2026 for three dogs.

Georgianas heart
When we found out our dog had mitral valve disease we were heartbroken. We learned that the drugs to manage this condition are very good and monitoring the condition is important. At every doctor or specialist visit Trupanion took care of the bill and our out of pocket expense was very low. Our Georgiana was doing well with her meds then her cardiologist suggested that she was an excellent candidate for the open heart procedure at The University of Florida which could repair the faulty mitral value. It would require a alot of testing and logistics to make happen. Also the procedure was between $45-50k. During our video conference with the doctors at The University of Florida they mentioned that in their experience Trupanion typically covers the procedure. Would an insurance company pay for such a pricey procedure for Georgiana? Yes, after submitting my preauthorization I promptly received an approval. The surgery came and went and Georgiana is doing so well that she is no longer on medications. Ten business days after the procedure, as expected Trupanion paid the bill. I want to thank Trupanion for their care for animals like my dog Georgiana. If you are wondering who to choose for to insure your pets health. There is only one answer, Trupanion.
