They don't cover a lot

I got healthy paws thinking it would help me when my dog got ill however have come to discover that they don't cover a lot of common issues. An example, I took my dog in because she has a cough, the vet gave her an x-ray and medication and healthy paws didn't cover it. Similarly she had to have heartworm treatment and they would not cover the cost of it or the associated x-rays. If your dog gets into an accident then you should be ok but if you are getting insurance hoping that it will reduce expenditure in the long run then healthy paws is a waste of money.

After loosing our Labrador Retriever

After loosing our Labrador Retriever, I realized how important it is to carry pet insurance. Our Lab became I'll very quickly. He did not show any signs that he had cancer. Our family Veterinarian never seen anything out of the ordinary. He just could not walk one day. We thought because of his age it may have been Arthritis. After his regular vet appointment, we were told he needed more tests. The drive to a specialist was a long one. After He was admitted we knew vet cost could be high however we didn't realize how high. He was given the best care and they ran so many blood tests. And a sonagram. And X-rays. His prognosis was not good and we had to let him cross the Rainbow Bridge. This had been one of the hardest decisions we had to make. The cost didn't concern as we were worried about our best friend. We had to face reality and the expenses were in the thousands, just didn't seem fair that we lost him but now we are responsible for a huge medical bill as well. It was only two days of just tests and care. I can't imagine what it would have costs if he needed a major surgery. A few years later we adopted another dog. This time we were going to be prepared. So we knew Trupanion direct billed with our vet. I have had to use there service once or twice having a young dog that likes to chew. They were fast and I didn't have the stress of having to pay the whole bill first and get reimbursed back. It made life so much less stressful. I hope the day never comes but I know my new baby will face medical issues, And I have some relief knowing I will be able to say ok to needed surgeries or illnesses. I'm not worried if something happened on a weekend or the middle of the night. Trupanion is there 24 hours a day 7 days a week to help answer your questions and give you that light at the end of the tunnel. They honestly have been a blessing. When your dog is healthy you often wonder why you are paying for insurance.however when the table turns and your facing decisions on the proper care of your fur baby trust me.. you will be so grateful you had insurance for them. Thank you Trupanion..

Confusion in combining policies - Made simple

We have recently added two dogs to our family, and insured them both. But as they were months apart and I was new to the world of insurance for my pets, I was very confused when we combined their policies. Michaela was very helpful with me on the phone, helped me combined the puppies policies, and was even able to recommend to me the best way to insure them. When the drafts came out of my account, I was again confused. I emailed in and Michaela again was very quick to respond, and very thorough with her explanation. I am so very thankful for her help, patience and understanding as we venture into insuring our purebred babies.

Rather dissatisfied at the moment with…

Rather dissatisfied at the moment with my increase in the cost of my car insurance. Also why when I make a new quote as if I was a new client, the cost is around $200 less. I put exactly the same options and values. Even my driver's license number was entered. I find it unfair to have a higher amount when we are already a customer. But when I want to buy the new one, always error display Sorry we have problem.

Helpful, Honest, Reliable!

Our puppy is almost 2 years old. He's had some tummy issues lately, and Trupanion has made it easy for us to submit claims. Additionally, we discovered our Bichon is a mixed breed and they were very helpful in changing his records so that his information was accurately reflected. They also reduced our premium as a result... so that was an unexpected surprise!
