I have always found Healthy Paws to be extremely easy to deal with. They process claims quickly and explain the benefits thoroughly, but straightforward enough to understand what is covered and what is not.

Trupanion made me smile
After filing my claim yesterday, I received a response today. Trupanion covered what they said they would cover, quickly and efficiently. But while this quick response made me smile it’s not what brought tears to my eyes. It was the comment,”Give Milo some extra love for us.” Those caring words written by a stranger assured me that out of all the pet insurance companies I picked the right one.

My 5 star rating is based on the Sign-Up process and the marketing information that I was able to research on the company, compared to other companies. I have not had the experience of having a claim yet, so I can't comment on the plan performance. However, I am very impressed with the information shared and the easy sign up process. Hopefully, I will never have to file a claim

Misleading and inconsistent website
Edit on March 8: they reached out to me by phone and, after I explained the situation, acknowledged that the website does seem misleading, and they'd look into my feedback. Their website's description of what documents are needed for a claim is misleading to say the least. They say on their website that the medical records they need are "Detailed medical records, including from your pet’s most recent checkup (a vet visit unrelated to your pet getting sick or hurt)". (Trustpilot doesn't allow me to post link, but the specific webpage is titled "Your guide to filing claims.") But in reality, they also ask for the records from the visit which the claim is for, i.e. the visit that happened exactly because my pet was sick. And their customer service agent explicitly confirmed this to me, without explaining why it works differently than what their website says. If they were clear and consistent upfront, I probably would have no problem with providing the medical records for every visit. But now I feel I was lied to, and I have serious doubt whether I can trust them when I need them. I may need to shop around for other pet insurances.

Trupanion is truly amazing. I am speechless at how grateful I am for them as they’ve saved me BIG time during the roughest patch. So willing to help me and my pup, and get a diagnosis to what’s going on with her. She is my best friend so without them this wouldn’t be possible financially

Pumpkin was very helpful in answering all my questions and concerns. The insurance rate is affordable and the coverage is more than satisfactory. I very much appreciate the fact that after 180 days of being symptom-free, my pet will not be considered to have a pre-existing condition and if any similar problem arises after that time period, she will have coverage.

Trupanion is your typical insurance…
Trupanion is your typical insurance company always trying to get out of paying. I have been with them 1.5 years now and am so disappointed. Our dog has had 2 episodes of vomiting and not eating or drinking. We saw the vet for both these episodes. Our dog was prescribed the same medication. I am in the medical field myself and didn't anticipate any issues with having to pay deductible again. One visit was listed as vomiting with working diagnosis of non specific gastroenteritis. The second visit was listed as non specific gastroenteritis. Trupanion deemed this 2 different conditions! I did my due diligence and appealed and sent in the medical records and had vet speak to them. I even have a message from vet stating insurance should be fine, he spoke to them. To my dismay they have declined the appeal as they found inflamed GI tract in the records of the 2nd claim. This is outrageous and completely taking advantage of clients. I feel sorry for individuals with no medical knowledge as you are probably being scammed. I would STEER CLEAR of this company as their business is not about helping clients, but about profit and trying to get out of paying claims.
