Making a bad situation WORSE
I have had Healthy Paws for YEARS. In the past I have rated them 5/5 and had claims processed quickly and any issues handled swiftly. Customer service was second to none. Until my pet passed away..... My dog passed away on the 16th of the month, I notified HP right away. I filed a claim for the cremation expenses, as covered by her medical condition. They still took out my premium on the 21st and have not processed my claim. I understand that things happen - however my communications with them have been less than helpful. The first time I emailed, they said it would be taken care of in a timely manner. 7 days go by, so I call customer service. They proceed to tell me that my claim will be processed on the 25th and my account will be closed and they will refund my premium. On the 26th I called back and and the gentleman on the other end of the phone proceeds to tell me that no one should have said that and that there are a 'lot of other sick dogs' so we will process your request as soon as possible. I have been really nice in my communication with them, as I know things happen but this is a little ridiculous at this point. I also felt it was a little insensitive to say that my claim was being held up because there are a 'lot of other sick dogs'. I really expected better, Healthy Paws... you were a big part of helping us when we needed it. Now I feel like we don't matter because you're not going to get a monthly premium from us anymore.

Just the communication. When I had questions about the status of a submitted request they are very responsive. I dont feel like there dont to pay or anything:) It helps knowing that there is always someone on the other end.

The only thing I needed to worry about in the Emergency Veterinary Hospital was my cat
All of my experiences with Trupanion have been wonderful - and this last one was no exception! I learned firsthand how efficient Trupanion is a few years ago when my dog injured both his knees. So this past Friday when my cat got into some trouble and had to be rushed to the Emergency Vet with FIVE (yes FIVE) fish hooks embedded in him, the one thing I didn't have to worry about was the bill. I can't tell you what a relief it was to know I had Trupanion insurance and ONLY worry about my cat! This naturally happened on the Friday night before Memorial Day. Once my poor cat was home and comfortable, I put the claim in on Saturday morning thinking that since this was a holiday, I should get in the paperwork as soon as possible... and then Trupanion came through. They gave me frequent updates all through the weekend and processed my claim within 48 hours. They were really amazing. I cannot say enough about their service and again, how much it eased my mind to know that I was able to provide the best care for my pet, because I didn't have to worry about the cost.
