Greedflation strikes again
I've not had any issues with the service of Trupanion, I feel like the people who are trusted to converse with customers are all quite nice and truly caring. But it's become clear that the top people in charge have lost touch with their customers and are hell-bent on making record profits. I just received an email saying my insurance premium went up 22% monthly - and the boilerplate statement (the same one they will post in reply to this review) reads this is an adjustment based on the market and my area... Let's be honest, it's never a decrease or a stagnant number, it's ALWAYS an increase. This is NOT an incremental change due to inflation, 22% is a massive amount of money month-over-month and this is absolutely a greedy ploy by the company trying to mask it as "inflation". After seeing other people get blindsided by similar increases it's disheartening. I'm saddened by the fact that people will now have to choose to remove protection for their beloved pets because of these massive increases just to stay afloat. Do better.

I had to call for each claim more than 4 times until they work on it. The claim stay stuck and doesn’t move forward. Really bad experience since last 2 months.

healthy paws is just a scam
healthy paws is just a scam do not trust them. they will take your money for years and then once you have a problem make it impossible to get a reinbursment. you only see how dishonest and deceiving this health insurance is when you file your first claim! even if your dog is super healthy and it is 100% obvious the problem was just an accident. dont fall for this scam. This review is not about the deductible, it is about filing claims and suddenly finding out how they operate. Healthy Paws should request ALL the medical records and information they need and make sure that your dog will eventually be eligible for claims BEFORE starting charging you. Two different healthy paws representatives told us over the phone that the records that they requested when we suscribed and they “accepted” our dog were actually not ENOUGH and that they only really check your eligibility AFTER you submit your first claim!!! What?? This means that if your dog is ok, you can pay them for YEARS before you actually find out that your dog might not be eligible after all! Even if they end up accepting this specific claim I think this is very DISHONEST. Apparently this is written somewhere in that very long contact they sent us (of course…) As you can read in other reviews here and in their app, you only find out how things are when you have a claim. They charge you for years but then they need to check if you are “really eligible”. WTH???

Pets Best came through
I got my puppy's insurance about six weeks before an obstruction surgery that ended up costing around $8000. When I signed-up I opted for a high deductible ($1,000) , being terrified of a huge bill like the one I got. Two weeks before the incident I got an email from Pets Best that Tico, my pup, was now covered. Friends were skeptical that I would be covered having gotten the insurance within a few months of the incident. A few days ago I was immensely relieved to find out that PetsBest covered most of the bill, minus the deductible and a bunch of co-pays. They sent a detailed itemized bill explaining what was covered and what wasn't. They have other plans that would have coverd more of the costs but I can definitely say that I got the protection I was looking for and was treated professionally. They also have a fantastic app. I already sent an email to all my pet-owner friends recommending they get Pets Best pet insurance.

Great Experience
We had neurological issues with our puppy that were very scary and expensive. Without Pets Best we would have never been able to give her the care she needed. The claims were done quickly, and we were reimbursed in a timely manner. I would highly recommend Pets Best.
