Unsatisfactory Experience

Dear Pet Owners, I am writing this review to share my unfortunate experience with Embrace Pet Insurance and to caution prospective customers about potential challenges with their services. My aim is to provide an honest account of the issues I encountered with the company. After our beloved 8-year-old Shih Tzu dog fell ill and required emergency care, we faced an $800 out-of-pocket expense as our previous pet plan did not cover such situations. To ensure better coverage for future incidents, we decided to explore other pet insurance options and settled on Embrace due to their endorsement by USAA. We enrolled our dog into their program and dutifully submitted all of her medical records for their review. Approximately four months ago, our dog received a misdiagnosis of a mass in one of her eyes, leading us to consult an eye specialist. Fortunately, the diagnosis was found to be incorrect, and our dog was diagnosed with a yeast infection around the eye area instead. We promptly submitted our claim, only to be informed that it would not be covered due to a preexisting condition. Despite our dog requiring several follow-up visits, each incurring $180 in expenses, our claims were consistently denied on the same grounds. In an effort to resolve the matter, we sought our veterinarian's professional opinion during one of our appointments, and they confirmed that the condition our dog experienced was unrelated to the preexisting condition cited by Embrace for the denials. To bolster our appeal, the veterinarian provided supporting documentation affirming the distinction between the two conditions. However, despite our efforts, we were met with a generic response from Embrace, persisting that our dog's coverage would not be extended due to the alleged preexisting condition. Our frustration grew as subsequent communications with Embrace remained unyielding, and we reached out to express our concerns about their stance. Regrettably, we received a standardized, unaltered response, leading us to question the company's customer service, communication, and overall policies. As a result, we find ourselves locked into a year-long contract with Embrace, obligating us to continue paying the monthly fee of $70 despite our dissatisfaction with the service provided. Our family invested in a product that has not delivered as expected, leaving us disappointed with the entire experience. In conclusion, I earnestly advise prospective pet owners to think twice before considering Embrace Pet Insurance. While we initially hoped for a positive and reliable experience, our journey with the company has left us dissatisfied with their policies and the level of service received. I hope this review serves as a valuable reference during your research for suitable pet insurance companies. We believe it is crucial to make informed decisions when it comes to protecting our beloved animal companions. Sincerely, John Received this response on August 17, 2023 from Embrace regarding our negative experience. My response to their response is... WE HAVE ALREADY BEEN DOWN THAT ROAD...Several emails regarding rejected claim(s) (plural) with questions about denials were sent and were always replied to with canned responses stating 'pre-existing condition'. We pointed out what the veterinarian scribed in the Dr.s notes stating otherwise and were still denied any reimbursement. My advice to anyone considering Embrace as their choice for pet insurance is if you are transferring to Embrace with any kind of medical history on your pet, go elsewhere. I may as well be holding $70 dollars over a candle flame every month and get the same results.

Lack Of claims pymt…

Have spent thousands of $$$ in premiums which on always charged against my bank account on a very timely basis. But I finally submit a bit larger claim and it is going on 2 months now with no claims reimbursement. I will never get back the money I have paid in over the years in premiums back and have only submitted 2 claims in last few years. Please expedite.

Not a great experience overall

Claims take a long time to process. The EOB is unclear and confusing. It should be clearly outlined what will be refunded and show amounts paid toward the total deductible. I do not find the value in carrying this coverage for my pet since the deductible seems to be super high. I will not renew after this year.

Did not like the large price increase…

Did not like the large price increase after the first year, especially for such a young cat, and having no claims made. Renewed anyway because of the hassle of changing companies. But be warned, I will be shopping around next year if the increase continues.

Don’t do it.

This is my first time getting pet insurance. I have an almost 11 year old dog and a puppy. I thought the well visit coverage would help with puppy vet bill costs but it’s completely NOT worth it. What you have to figure out yourself is that everything is capped and the total amount they will cover isn’t anything compared to what you think the cost would be because you don’t know how much puppy visits will cost. It’s a sham.

Grateful for Healthy Paws

I could not have gotten my dog the care he so desperately needed without the assistance of Healthy Paws. I am so grateful to have had Healthy Paws since he was a puppy. We didn’t need it until now when he’s almost 8 years old but it was always nice to know I had their policy in case it was needed. My dog recently needed care and spinal surgery which cost over $8000. I never would have been able to afford it without Healthy Paws. The claim submission and reimbursement process is easy and quick. I could not be more grateful that they were there when I needed them.

Nine years of paying ~$150 a mos for snake oil

I've been paying ~$150 a month for 9+ years to insure my yellow lab. I think my total payments exceed $16,000. Last Thursday I used my insurance for the first time ever due to acute care for my dog. Trupanion disappointed. For example They declined a $135 charge by the doctor for the initial assessment, which was the basis for the treatment. How do you treat a patient without an Assessment??? Shoot it the dark?? Ridiculous! After speaking to trupanion I learned that there were services in the past that the insurance would theoretically pay for. I thought, maybe they are not so bad...bad analysis on my part. I submitted claims for five older claims totaling a few hundred $$ and again was disappointed by the lack of coverage. This stuff is like lame long term auto warranties, but with the packaging the Trupanion cares. It's snake oil.

It is simple to submit forever to get paid

It is simple to start a claim and the information required is easy to get and submit. However it takes so long to get reimbursed. I submitted a claim and got 3 emails telling me they are short staffed and it will take longer to process the claim. I get emails like that for EVERY claim I submit. Been with the company 2 years now and every claim I have gotten an email saying it will take 2 months longer to process.
