Denials that go against their policy
In November of last year we decided to get pet insurance for our dog. Soon after, she was playing in the snow and tore her ACL which was listed as covered under her policy. We took her to the vet and they recommended surgery but we decided to hold off and hoped it would heal on its own. Unfortunately, it didn't and five months later she had surgery. All of her claims were denied due to her ACL tear being labeled as an "illness". The vet wrote a letter confirming the date of injury, type of injury and clarifying that it couldn't be an illness as it was related to an injury. I have called countless times, written countless emails, and now am consulting with an attorney. If the policy specifically claims ACL injuries are covered, they should be covered. She had absolutely zero prior issues with her ACL, never limped or showed any signs of problems prior.

I started my claim back in May only to find out that my coverage didn’t include the reason I took my cat in, so if that is the case I don’t I might as well not have coverage, thank goodness I didn’t have to pay thousands of dollars because I would have been up the creek.

Healthy Paws, the Best!
I'm always a bit cynical about insurance companies and their coverage, but I could fill a page with accolades for Healthy Paws.We took our cat Aspen to our vet because he was having a problem urinating, he was diagnosed with bladder stones which required surgery, ended up being two surgeries because some of the stones were attached to his bladder. We filed two claims, one for the original diagnosis and one for the two surgeries and two night stay at the vets. Both of these claims totaled $7164.68 and Healthy Paws covered $6911.07 of this and paid 90%, for a total of $6219.96 and received the first check in about a week, did automatic deposit to my checking account for the second payment and had it in about three days. I wasn't even expecting half of this. Also, Healthy Paws has contacted me at least twice checking on how Aspen is doing. I know nothing about other pet insurance companies, but I do know about Healthy Paws and I can't imagine that there is anyone better, if as good. Thank you Healthy Paws!

This pet insurance was recommended by our breeder. Excellent value for our needy English Bulldog. Easy to upload claims, see status, and relatively quick turnaround time for payments. We joke that we wish human health insurance was this easy.
