Direct Billing!!
Trupanion keeps bragging about one very important and super convenience for most pet parents - Direct Billing! Basically, Hero Vets install some software provided by Trupanion and it enables hero vets to directly charge Trupanion. So easy and great piece of mind for those of us who may not be able to afford paying total amount and wait for a few weeks to get portion of it from pet insurance. Trupanion has a long list, probably thousands of Hero Vets who support direct billing. EXCEPT, when you call them, most, based on my own personal experience, over 90% told me they would no longer accept direct billing and all clients must pay the entire amount out of their own pockets! I became curious - but very difficult to know the reason. Their names are listed on Trupanion web site - so, what’s the problem! Off the record, some explained that Trupanion always comes up with tons of excuses to deny the claims and many pet parents got stuck because they thought Trupanion would pay their bills! Too much trouble for Hero Vets and stress for customers, they decided to stop dealing with Trupanion. Bottom line, those of you who are thinking of joining Trupanion, confirm with your Hero Vets that they indeed accept direct billing. Please do not bother confirming them with Trupanion based on their own lists - their agents play so surprised every time - telling you, that is so strange and they’re going to contact whoever at upper level - which never happens and the list will remain unchanged! ** Hero Vets is a trademark by Trupanion! Trupanion loves Vets more than their own customers and heavily encourage Hero Vets to refer customers = a very generous referral fees will be paid to Hero Vets!

Alternative claim submission
The app was malfunctioning and had to send my documents and claim via E-mail. The embrace team was able to handle and process my claim being transparent through the entire process. Thank you. I would be in world of financial hardship if it wasn't for embrace, the cost of veterinarian care is astronomical.

Time to process claims is ridiculously long, over 30+ days is the average wait time. Doesn’t cover much. Not sure I would recommend.

My monthly bill just went up 41.3%
My monthly bill just went up 41.3%. That is outrageous. Please be aware of this. My dog is 4 years old has had nothing more than a urinary tract infection. I can understand inflation and the need to increase but this much at one time is really difficult. I went from paying 82.00 to now 116.00 per month.

Our claims were settled very promptly. It was a very stressful time for me as my best friend was very sick and needed many tests and medications to help her. I had the confidence to approve the estimated cost of her care. The reiumbursements were exactly as I anticipated based on our insurance plan. The claims were easy to submit and were settled quickly.
