Mila my dog is waiting for a hip replacement. Trupanion has been there every step of the way. Very helpful with the process. I really like the not paying for the full bill then sending in paperwork and waiting to be repaid. Some of the meds are very expensive and the surgery also. So for them paying out their portion is very helpful. Very Grateful Heather W

Between the deductible and copay there…
Between the deductible and copay there isn't a point to have pet insurance as the money i otherwise would've spent on the insurance I could've used on the vet appointment and still have additional money left over. Also it took 29 days to settle this disgrace of a claim.

Healthy Paws is the best pet policy I’ve had
I have dealt with multiple human and pet insurance companies in my lifetime and none have been as easy to deal with as Healthy Paws. The claims submission process is incredibly streamlined, the turnaround time for reimbursement is quick, and it is easy to access benefits. Other companies put up many barriers to accessing benefits, so it is much appreciated to not have to deal with that while also caring for a sick pet. I really couldn’t ask for more, and that is very rare in the world of insurance. Thank you, Healthy Pets, for making the process so easy!

Heard Trupanion used to be good, not any longer!
I researched Trupanion before I bought pet insurance for my 2 month old Springer Spaniel. I figured what could go wrong, he was 2-3 months old when the insurance kicked in after 30 days. He was perfect. He was a puppy. Before my 30 day grace period was over, I took him to the vet to have his first check up. Everything was great with the exception that his ears were a little "dirty". They were cleaned and that was that. At about a year old he had an ear infection. I made a claim and because his ears were a little dirty before the grace period was up, they denied my claim saying it was a preexisting condition. Like an idiot I continued with the insurance for the next 3 years. Recently my dog started getting really bad breath. I took him to the vet and he ended up having periodontal disease plus he needed 3 teeth pulled. Not normal for Springers. I have had 3 of them and never did they need to even have their teeth cleaned let alone have teeth pulled...especially at this age. I made a claim to Trupanion. The reason they denied my claim this time was that the early records from my vet showed that my perfect puppy of 2 months old had 2/4 periodontal disease. And although in the same report and in later documentation it showed he had 0/4 periodontal disease, they didn't ask questions or consider that strange, they just denied my claim based on it being a preexisting condition. I called Trupanion to complain and asked them to cancel my policy. A nice woman convinced me to hold off and submit an appeal as my vet had explained to me that back when my dog was a puppy they had trouble with their software and my puppies reports defaulted to 2/4 periodontal disease. I sent the appeal in with my vet's explanation and didn't cancel the policy. It took over a month to get an answer back and therefore paid still another premium. And of course, you guessed it, my appeal was denied. During covid my father in law died, we had to "shelter in place" for months on end, I am not even sure my vet was taking well check up appointments at that time, but because my dog had not been seen by a vet from 2020 to 2023, and because the policy says in fine print that your dog has to have a check up every 12 months to be covered, they denied my appeal. I want my money back. I want my time back from the waised time I spent trying to make this claim. From my point of view, their goal when a claim comes in is to figure out how they can deny it. They don't truly care about your pet, they just find ways to take your money. Beware, don't even bother looking into this company. You’ll find all kinds of happy faces on reviews that state how great Trupanion is. They are fake, maybe paid off by Trupanion. Read the reports in Consumer Affairs where you hear real users rate this horrible insurance company.

I have had nothing but great…
I have had nothing but great experiences with Trupanion. My dog recently needed a procedure done on her ccl and Trupanion was there every step of the way. They covered almost all of the cost of the procedure and after care. They are very quick and I love how they update you along the way. I will definitely recommend this company to others.
