Their policy has shady wording to lead…
Their policy has shady wording to lead you astray during decision making in emergent settings. I feel very much taken advantage of for all the money I’ve contributed to Trupanion, who does not take care of their customers that are making decisions based off their policy coverage documents. I would not recommend this company at all because it feels intentionally vague that they phrase things the way they do to avoid doing right by their loyal customers. They will call one thing a “condition” then the next time tell you it’s a “symptom” and that’s how they get out of paying for it because of not knowing what exactly the diagnosis is. You’d be better off putting their monthly premium amounts in your own savings account! I wish I did before I learned the hard way.

I sent in a set of claims 29 days ago.
I sent in a set of claims 29 days ago. 1 of the claims was processed and approved in 14 days. All other claims are still waiting for review. I'm told it takes up to 30 business days to review after receipt of medical history etc. So, by my math, 4 weeks so far and possibly up to another 6 weeks for review of the other claims. I am new to embrace, but I have used other per insurance companies in the past. In comparison, Embrace appears to be either the most thorough pet insurer or they may be understaffed to process claims in a timeline comparable to other pet insurers. My advice to anyone considering Embrace is to accept that time to process claims may be lengthy. I am still waiting for the outcomes of my claims. This review is factual as to my knowledge. I would not be writing this review at this time other than because I received a request to do so from Embrace themselves. I would have preferred to provide a proper review upon completion of processing of the claims submitted. At this point it is not clear what is happening other than the limited information shared to date as noted above saying it could take another 30 business days (that's another 6 weeks following the first 4 weeks and counting). I look forward to the outcome of my submitted claims.

I have had Trupanion for almost 2 years…
I have had Trupanion for almost 2 years now. I never had any issues in submitting claims or receiving the credit/refund due. I submitted a claim on 9/12 and as of today - 10/2 no one has even looked at it. I was told it would be an additional 2 weeks that there is a new system migration causing claims to take 4-6 weeks to be reviewed and processed. I think that is a long time to wait for reimbursement. Something needs to change!!!

Dermatological issue loophole
Luna was diagnosed with a yeast infection in her ear. 7 months or so later, she developed a rash on her head, neck, and unluckily for us, near her ear. The claim was rejected as it was a "similar" dermatological condition within the same rolling 12 months." Even her Dr. wrote that the issues were completely unrelated and not even the same condition. But that didn't matter. Maybe if the rash had been on her belly far away from her ear, we would have had some financial relief. It's sad to post this, I've had Figo with two other pets and they used to be wonderful.
