Change in the way Trupanion claims are paid without notice.
2/10/23 I am furious with Trupanion. Today, They have always been a great company to work with. I have 2 med/large dogs. When there is a claim they have always taken off the deductible and then paid 90% of the claim. We've been with them since 2019. I had a new claim for my older dog. I have a $500 deductible. The claim was for $569.06. I am supposed to be getting 90% of the $69.06. Instead, I get an explanation of benefits and it says Trupanion will be paying $12.15. I call to ask why does it say I am only getting $12.15. The girl on the phone said Trupanion changed their policy to be in line with the other pet insurance companies. I asked when it happened and she said last month. I asked how could Trupanion do that without notifing their customers first. She said "Oh they are going to be sending out notices very soon in batches." I asked for a supervisor and of course they were busy and would get back to me.

USE ANYONR BUT NATIONWIDE
Nationwide pet insurance is useless in NY. For a bill of over $300 for Entiritis (where my dog wasn't eating or drinking for three days) guess what they paid? $83. Tell me what vet in Rockland County NY treats even an ear infection for less than $100. They are such a disappointment. VIP (my original pet insurance) was so much better. I will NEVER use them for any of my future pets.

I had the front left tire come of my car at 80kms an hour. This event was covered under comprehensive. My experience with Sonnet was very good with the possible exception of the claims agent that I was assigned. My 30 day rental ran out because of a problem getting parts. You don't usually have to change the backing plate during the life of the car. I was told that an extension for the rental was approved but was never told nor informed when it would expire. The extension was only for 4 days but I did not know. At any rate I ended up needing the rental for 47 days. To shorten the story, Sonnet covered the 17 day overrun once I escalated beyond the claims agent. I am a retired guy on a fixed income and not having to pay the overrun was relief. Overall I would recommend Sonnet. But remember to advocate for yourself. No one else will.

Don't!
This is an awful company. They screw up what's needed for reimbursement, and you have to fight with them for weeks! They have jacked up the prices so much in 4 years, I'd switch if my dogs current conditions would be covered by someone else. I can't stand this company.
