We loveeeee Spot

We loveeeee Spot! We have two out of four dogs with Spot insurance and can’t be more pleased with how easy and quick everything works. Total Lack of Transparency

In my recent review, I stated that Trupanion WILL NOT share the data that they use to raise premiums. They responded to me that "We conduct regular evaluations of our pricing alongside broad trends and changes in veterinary medicine. This evaluation considers things such as the fluctuating costs of veterinary care due to inflation, and the increased use of better technology in the industry to get pets the help they need." It goes on to say that if I would like more information to contact them. Yes, I would like to see the data they use to support their 30% annual increases. If they have this information and use it to justify significantly large increases, WHY DO THEY CHOOSE NOT TO SHARE IT? Why are they not transparent? Makes you wonder, right?

My last experience went perfectly and I received the reimbursement in a very timely manner. That has not always been my experience however. Sometimes it takes a lot longer, especially when multiple claims are filed.

Frustrating Claims Process, Poor App, and Minimal Coverage

The claims process was extremely frustrating. I submitted my claim the day I took my dog to the vet, but ongoing issues with both the app and website made it difficult to log in or confirm submission. I was told this was a common problem and advised to email my claim, which was later said to have never been received. When I finally submitted it, the claim was initially denied because my dog’s name wasn’t listed. Despite my name being clearly on the paperwork. It took three months to process the claim. After the delay, my monthly premium increased, and I was reimbursed only $270 on a $900 bill. Due to the poor technology, long delays, and minimal coverage, I canceled my policy and switched to another company offering the same benefits for half the cost. The only helpful experience I had was with the representative who assisted me in canceling my policy.
