Healthy Paws Saved My Dog's Life

Healthy Paws is the reason that my dog is alive, period. I adopted a Lab/Pit mutt named Bagel when he was four months old. Sadly, when bagel was 4y.o. he became paralyzed from the waist down due to degenerative disc disease. The cost of surgery was $12,000.00 and it worked... until six months later it happened again. The vet told me his odds of survival were low and I decided to do the surgery anyway, another $12,000.00. This time... it worked. I'm so glad I made that choice. Bagel was doing fantastic for two years and now my poor sweet dog at the young age of 7y.o. has a brain tumor. He obviously has the worst luck. Ending your dog's life is something you know you will have to do at some point but certainly not at 4 years old, and hopefully not at 7 years old. I decided to do radiation for Bagel and he is now recovering. Radiation was $20,000.00. Needless to say without Healthy Paws' contribution I could have never afforded all of these huge ticket treatments. I submit my recent claims to healthy paws on a Tuesday and I had an approval Wednesday with money back in my bank on Thursday. No questions asked.... just a follow up e-mail from them asking how Bagel is doing with treatment. I couldn't recommend a better insurance company and if you have a dog these days it's absolutely necessary.

Claim processing issues

I submitted 4 claims. 1 was approved. 3 remaining claims that are open all say waiting on documents that are not needed. Cannot upload or update information after you submit a claim. This is not 1972. There goal is to force you to call so you can be put on hold.

Typical insurance dodge

Typical insurance dodge. As a former Assistant General counsel for a major Insurance company and a retired attorney, with a long happy prior number of relationships with Met Life I am appalled at what passes for claims adjusting and underwriting. Unfortunately after acquiring my Champion Italian Greyhound from a reputable breeder it broke its Ulna and Radius. Fortunatley, on advice of the breeder I had obtained pet indurance and selected Met Life Pet Insurance as the carrier. IN classic denial fashion my claims for surgery costs and gollow ups for the injury were denied for no REASON. The adjuster, Allison Faulkner, has got to be the most obtusew adjuster on the planet. She couldn't even get facts correct. Everything reasonably required was submitted and she even denied that. The company is so sheltered, it has been impossible to get the General Counsel's number so I can provide the courtesy of notification of a potential lawsuit, not just for appropriate reimbursement but for fraud in the inducement and fraud in the factum. On the web one of their quotes state: “Jan 20, 2023You can take your dog to any licensed veterinarian, pay the bill, and send it to us for reimbursement — we'll process your claim in less than 2 weeks. 4 Policies are subject to some exclusions, but getting a pet insurance plan can still save you thousands each year.” The first claim was submitted in the first two weeks of November and the denial letter was just received on Jan. 23. They are just denying to wear me out and I will not tolerate it. I'd like to solicit for the other disgruntled policy buyers for a class action if possible. The on-line system is so bad it couldn't even coonect my information to a policy, and then it cut me off every time I tried to log on. This is a huge, IMHO, fraudulent MICKEY MOUSE operatoin trading on what used to be the reputable name of Met Life.
