Really impressed with Trupanion's claim process!

Really impressed with Trupanion's claim process, paying the veterinarian directly and the ease of the entire process. Just knowing Trupanion has us covered for those unexpected emergencies is such a stress reliever! I am extremely happy with Trupanion's service!

The experience filling out the application

The experience filling out the application was smooth and wasn't hard to understand. It didn't take to long and seemed like all my questions were answered for now. Waiting for my approval email to come and my S'mores will be all set.

Increased monthly premium 125% in one month for no good reason

HealthyPaws increased my 10 year old Corgi's pet insurance policy more than 150% ($100 a month to $225 a month) when he had no new conditions. I called to figure out what was going on and they told me it was "primarily due to California Claims Experience that was based on how many California petowners have made claims in the state". How does that affect my individual pet? This is a scammy and predatory company now that it's been taken over and even the customer service associate I talked to had no remorse or full explanation. They were simply reading a script off a page and could not give me more details. Honest petowners, beware!

Don't Buy Unless You Are OK with Being Left High and Dry

I have had this insurance for 10 years, since my cats were young. It was good insurance, until it wasn't. I planned to keep this insurance for the lifetime of my cats. Then, Nationwide decided they didn't want to operate in Florida anymore because it's too expensive for this huge corporation. Now I have to find replacement insurance with another company for two senior cats with conditions that developed during Nationwide's coverage that *would* have been covered if Nationwide didn't pull out of Florida, but now won't be covered by my next plan as "preexisting conditions", just when I needed the insurance the most. Beware, do not sign up for this insurance because they just might decide your state is too expensive next and your pet's most important conditions won't be covered. Adding insult to injury, they denied my final claims. The plans listed an effective date through the 2nd. "January 2nd" is the date listed everywhere on the app and on the website. One cat was due for his one month follow up after radioactive iodine treatment and the other was due for his 6 month recheck of his kidney values, so I took them both on the 2nd. Guess what - both claims were denied by Nationwide who now states that actually January 1st is the last day of the policy because January 2nd they're no longer effective. If that's the case, the website and app should say January 1st! Every expiration date I've ever come across in my life lists the last day of the effectiveness of the policy, plan, service, card, etc., and you have until the end of the day to use it. I begged them to help me, to see if there was anything they could do, because this was not clear at all and the entire situation of the company pulling out of Florida is not my fault. They were rude and cold on the phone, saying there's nothing they can do. Of course there is something they can do, they can cover the claims, but they don't want to. Thanks Nationwide for leaving me in tears and leaving my cats vulnerable to their now "preexisting" conditions in their senior years. I am so sorry to all others who are in the same position as me in Florida and hope no one else in other states has to experience this, but I wouldn't risk it.

Great Coverage

I've had Healthy Paws for my dogs since 2017. Each time I needed their help, they were right there and covered the costs as outlined in my policy. The price for the policy is very much worth it.
