Lacking transparency

I am a 'believer' in insuring pets, homes, and cars. But in today's post-pandemic world, it's become an entirely new ballgame. The problem is that rates go up and the ins cos cover less and less. Our rate went up approx 20% annually, but what's worse IMO is that they have teased out what is actually being COVERED and called it "customization." For ex, a pet exam and prescriptions are now sep from the overall plan as a so-called "courtesy" to customer. You have to pay extra for that ($20/mth), in order for that to be included in your coverage. That's tantamount to having house ins and saying you have to pay extra for the house! If they respond w/an "I'm sorry" to this note, I'll cancel. I'm so tired of disingenuous apologies. It's about the profit margins. I taught business ethics; don't kid me w/false contrition. I know this is about the bottom line. Just keep it real with people. PLEASE. UPDATE 7/23: You sent an ADVERT in response. I specifically ASKED YOU not to reply. See how well Embrace listens: Not at all.

Appeal for claim denial

On 07/13/2024, We took our cat to the vet for a regular health examination. Having had a previous cat who experienced serious health issues, she had a heart murmur and found out she was fip, we are particularly cautious about our current cat’s health and believe regular check-ups are essential. We went there for general visit not a previous illness etc. Following the visit, I submitted all required documents, including the vet's examination report, invoice in support of the claim. But I received notification that the claim had been denied. I have reviewed the documents and the policy terms, and I am unable to understand the reason for this denial.

First claim

I made my first claim and I originally sent in the docs requested by uploading them. Then my claim was stopped waiting for a medical history of my dog. So I e-mailed my files in however a day or two later I was asked to upload the history files as they did not have them so sending them in via e-mail did not help. It took about 2 days to process the claim and then I was paid directly to my account very quickly. So far I am satisfied with Spot Insurance.

Go somewhere else , not recommended at all The communication is terrible. Service worse 3 months today since I placed my claim and still waiting to be reviewed if you call is a 2 hours wait , emails they take 2 to 3 weeks to answer with vague response

Incorrect processing of claims

The claim specialists continue to change diagnosis so 1) they don't have to pay or 2) can apply a new deductible to a condition that has already met the deductible. Similar to other customer experiences, I paid my premiums for 9 years. My dog has been suffering from an undiagnosed condition for quite some time. I have filed claims to find the diagnosis. All claims state breathing difficulties. Lately, all the claims come back charging me the deductible, despite several doctor’s stating otherwise. The claims department does not return calls, even though I have asked several times. I emailed their CEO and Executive Team, and they don’t even bother acknowledging the email. If we call, customer service advises that we are wasting their time. As a result, we are pursing assistance from the Dept of Ins and legal action to recoup our losses - we have empirical evidence provided by four doctors that will show Trupanion is processing claims in bad faith and assigning diagnosis that are nowhere to be found in medical records. Today, the claims specialists literally changed the diagnosis and disregarded clinical notes provided by a renowned doctor. I was also told by a customer service representative, Mel (who advised that she had no supervisor), Trupanion’s claims specialist were more qualified to assign a diagnosis than the slew of specialists that have been chasing a diagnosis for years. We have also submitted invoices that were approved in advance of a procedure. Those invoices have not been paid, so I am not quite sure what of the purpose of the preapproval was in the first place. Trupanion as now assigned a ton of pre-existing conditions inhibiting our ability to go to a different insurance company. And the customer service number they provide, is less than helpful.
