AVOID Spot Pet Insurance

I strongly recommend AVOIDING Spot Pet Insurance and considering one of the many other highly rated pet insurance providers. For nearly two months, Spot has delayed making a pre-approval decision for my dog's recommended treatment despite having received all the requested medical records, documentation, and supporting information. During that time, I have repeatedly been given explanations for why a decision has not yet been made, but no meaningful progress has occurred. My 5-year-old Labrador Retriever has been suffering from a leg injury that has not healed in nearly six months. An orthopedic veterinary specialist has recommended an ultrasound and potentially additional treatments to properly diagnose and address the issue. These delays are preventing my dog from receiving timely care. What makes this situation particularly concerning is that Spot's continued delays are pushing the claim process toward my annual policy renewal date. I have already satisfied my deductible and am currently in the reimbursement phase of my coverage. If the process extends beyond the renewal date, my deductible will reset to zero, potentially costing me thousands of dollars in additional out-of-pocket expenses. From my perspective, Spot's handling of this matter appears designed to delay a decision until after renewal, rather than provide the prompt evaluation that policyholders reasonably expect. In addition, Spot's customer service has been extremely frustrating. Every time I have called, I have struggled to communicate with representatives due to language barriers and poor phone connection quality. Regardless of the representative's knowledge or professionalism, the combination of difficult-to-understand communication and consistently poor call quality has made it unnecessarily difficult to obtain clear answers about my claim. Based on my experience, Spot has failed to provide timely claim handling, transparent communication, and effective customer support when my pet needed care the most. I cannot recommend this company.

The process with simple and quick

The process with simple and quick. I had another insurance company with my past pets and their reimbursement took just a couple of days. Fetch takes a couple of weeks. No problem, though.

Buyer Beware - Read Your Policy for Preexisting Condition Loopholes

I purchased a pet insurance plan through Trupanion for my mini dachshund. Specifically purchased this as my first pet insurance product because of the IVDD condition that often occurs in dachshunds. My Ellie is six months old and is perfectly healthy. My vet listed that she has short legs (no kidding!) in her records and Trupanion used that to record a preexisting condition, thereby excluding IVDD from her coverage. I spoke with two people at Trupanion to ask for it to be amended, but they refused.

A happy and relieved doggy mom

I originally had this insurance, then got a new dog and took some bad advice and tried another company (Sp) and lived to regret it. I switched back to Natuion Wide and now I am relieved and sure my Bailey is covered. Also if I have a claim they make it easy to turn in and it’s processed quickly. Never leaving again

Terrible Customer Service & Claim Processors. Once Resolved I'm going to look into going back to Lemonade.

I have submitted two claims. One was successfully approved and applied to the deductible. A second claim was closed without my consent and noted that it was my request. (it was not) A third claim was made from the medical history they requested and denied. I resubmitted my main claim and asked that they prioritize it due to resetting the SLA by closing my original claim. They just replied again, asking which claim I would like to close? At this point, I have to believe they are using A.I need to answer emails and resolve claims. I simply want the last claim I submitted resolved. Advise to ASCPA: Use real humans. If you are using humans, please retrain them both on phones, emails, and claims. As someone who works in insurance claims, this experience was horrendous. If you do not have a quality assurance team, please note you need to invest in one or continue to lose members. Please resolve my claim ASAP.
