Outrageous premium increase!
I was just informed that at renewal our monthly premium will be increasing nearly 78%! In 3 years, I have submitted 0 claims on my insured cat, and 2 claims on my insured dog totaling under $1000 in reimbursement. Their justification is "veterinary inflation", but I have not seen an over 75% increase in veterinary prices. This is price gouging and taking advantage of people who love their pets and will likely just continue paying these ridiculous prices in the event of a costly illness or injury. If we made adjustments to our policy (as they suggested) such as higher deductible, lower annual maximum reimbursement, and lower percentage of reimbursement, it almost guarantees that we would not see any benefit from the insurance unless our pet was having a major surgery or extended hospital stay that exceeds a $500-$1000 deductible. The customer service rep I spoke with made no effort to keep me as a customer when I mentioned I would be shopping around for other carriers and possibly canceling.
