When my 1 yr old puppy had a bowel obstruction

When my 1 yr old puppy had a bowel obstruction last night, I didn't have to worry about the cost of the emergency surgery. The emergency animal hospital billed Trupanion directly and I just covered the co-pay, deductible, taxes and exam fee. What a relief! My heart bleeds for a couple at the animal hospital who didn't have insurance and had to take their very sick dog home because the cost for treatment was more then they could bare. My dog, thankfully was insured and I knew that whatever the cost of the surgery he would be treated. Thank you again for helping me through the worst night of our lives!

SPOT Delivered on Their Promise

I’ve had a great experience with SPOT Pet Insurance. Recently, my senior rescue cat needed a treatment that cost several thousand dollars. I submitted all the required records, and once SPOT received the documentation, my reimbursement was processed without any issues. What I appreciate most is that SPOT has not raised my premiums because of my cat’s age, unlike some other pet insurance companies. One company I contacted wouldn’t even cover pets over 13 years old. The condition my cat was treated for developed after she was enrolled, and SPOT honored the coverage as promised. The claims process was easy, the reimbursement was fair, and SPOT has not disappointed me. I highly recommend them to other pet owners.

I have not had a need to really use the insurance up until now. Our kitty is normally very healthy and happy. But, that seemingly changed in an instant that he was lethargic and not eating. Although the vet did not isolate the exact cause of the fever, the IV fluids and antibiotic brought him out of the illness. I am very thankful to Spot for standing with me during this ordeal. It was overwhelming.

Denied cancer care over an unrelated old lump—policy feels like a scam

I have accident/illness care for my French bulldog. A couple of years ago, he was treated for a minor left eyelid mass. Recently, he developed cancer in his right EAR—the complete opposite side of his body and an entirely different body part. Pets Best denied his diagnostic and cancer care, claiming it is a "pre-existing condition." Their policy is written so that if your pet has a single mass removed anywhere, every single mass that occurs for the rest of their life is automatically deemed pre-existing and excluded from coverage. This loophole is devastating when your pet actually needs cancer treatment. It feels like a giant scam designed to avoid paying out when it matters most. Potential buyers beware.
