I wanted to make sure I picked the right insurance for my pet and so far I am really happy with Spot. The process to file a claim is quick and easy.

Lack of Due Diligence. Presumptuous Claims Adjusters!!!
After 2 appeals and 9 weeks after my dog's surgery, Pets Best finally decided to pay the claim. The initial claims adjusters/underwriters for Pets Best are presumptuous and deny claims that they have not fully reviewed. No due diligence is done before they deny your claim. They will not speak to you nor your pet's vet. Pet Best cost me hundreds of dollars in credit card interest by denying my claims hoping i would go away. Unfortunately for them, I'm not going anywhere. Their website says they pay claims in 5-7 days. They took 5 WEEKS to deny my initial claim, then it only took them 2 DAYS to deny my appeal. Finally after another 2 WEEKS they approved my 2nd appeal. Afterward I had to wait 7 days for them to pay me via direct deposit. The whole process was ridiculous and unnecessary, as I provided them with almost 7 years of vet record documents from the day the dog was born to the day of surgery.

Reimbursements take about a month
The coverage is good and filing a claim was fine. The upload tool is a little broken but you can work around it. My biggest complaint is that the reimbursement timeline is unreasonable, especially when the bills are high and you're running up your credit card waiting for the money to come through. A month is just too long. I moved from Spot and they processed claims super quickly—miss them and lesson learned for next pet.

Poor communication for reimbursement
Poor communication for reimbursement on multiple occasions. The nail in the coffin was when they stated that an ACUTE otitis media infection wouldn’t be covered because of a pre existing condition within the past 12 months of allergic dermatitis that occurred 10 months earlier. Let me just say this is hogwash … no offense to the hogs out there

Double Charges and NOT REIMBURSED as of YET!
I am really disappointed with ASPCA stating and acknowledging of a double charged error in their system and I have called the day of 10/1/24, and 10/04, 10/07, 10/15 and 10/22. Even if it's an amount of $77.87 it's still robbing and not yet reimbursed as promised. I confirmed they had my checking account number and still nothing. I am not happy with having to keep checking my account.I have emailed and said if I do not get reimbursed I will dispute this amount and will cancel and shop elsewhere! Anyone else going through this issue? Check your bank accounts!!

Overall a great experience
Overall a great experience. I had my dog with them most of his 12 years. Sadly, he died this month and they were very kind, refunded me at a prorated amount without me asking, and sent a greeting card. Tips: get your pet in while young to avoid pre-existing conditions that won’t be covered, and look for discounts like I got with USAA. Over the years, I felt their customer service improved. Reimbursements used to be slow but lately have been pretty fast.
