Filing a claim could not be any easier
Filing a claim could not be any easier. The claim review process was completed in a timely manner, and was paid out exactly how they said it would. There were no surprises; no hidden exemptions.

When you need coverage Spot is Spot on!
I turned in the papers from my vet with receipt of all her medical needs. And within 10 days I was reimbursed the 80% of the bills as our contract said. Spot has been there for both my pets when needed. This was the first for Jetta, thank God I had a plan I could count on. Thanks Spot!

80% RATE INCREASE AFTER CLAIM
Rates increase at approximately 30% per year and can be more if you have any type of claim. If you ask why, they give a pre-written response regarding rates being reviewed annualy in your area etc...but it's ridiculous. I will never use this company again after our current pets. Last year after a nearly $9000 splenectomy for non cancerous mass, our rate went from $164 per month to $294 per month...a 79% increase!!!! They told me the same thing they did the year before, that they reviewed rates in my area and that's the price. SURE. I'm supposed to believe that it had nothing to do with the fact that I made a $9000 claim. 2020 - $86/mo 2021 - $121/mo (40% increase) - had a surgery prior year 2022 - $145/mo (20% increase) - no major claim prior year 2023 - $164/mo (13% increase) - no major claim prior year 2024 - GET READY..... $294/mo (79% increase) - MAJOR claim for life saving surgery around $9000 That's a 241% increase over the last 5 years. 48% average annually. Appalling. I'm seeing a very clear pattern. Make a claim, MAJOR rate increase. None or very small claims, average increase around 30% per year, Sometimes less. They have NEVER reduced rates, EVER. ONLY INCREASE year after year and exponentially. I am shocked that USAA teams up with this shady company. Worst of all, we can't switch because the current covered conditions would no longer be covered with a new company so we are stuck with them. Make sure you file EVERY claim and MAKE THEM PAY. The only good thing I will say about this company is they do actually pay - so they get 1 star. But at almost $300/mo, that's $3600/year, it might just be better to start a high yield savings account and hope for the best. Wheres the insurance commsion? I don't think pet insurance is regulated or at least not regulated in any responsible way. Crooks.

I was extremely touched by the note of condolences on the passing of my cat that I received from Spot Pet Insurance. They also canceled his policy, and reimbursed the claims within a couple of days. Outstanding customer service with a personal touch.
