Excellent insurance for your pet.

Before I get to Scout's story, I have to quickly mention my cat Chelsea, who passed away in 2006. I had her for 18 years and not pet insurance for her. She suffered many ailments including cancer and hyperthyroidism. She has several surgeries and chemo treatments to treat the cancer and radioactive iodine treatments to cure the hyperthyroidism. Needless to say, taking care of her illnesses cost me a fortune. A few months after she passed away, I got my puppy, Scout, a beautiful, energetic, yellow Labrador retriever. The first thing I did was look into pet insurance. I did my research. Checking all the different insurance companies that were available to me. I came across the ASPCA insurance. The first thing that impressed me was that it was the ASPCA, an organization that I have the utmost respect for and I have supported them for years. I went over the different plans and what would work best for me. I chose the Advantage plan and the premium is extremely reasonable. Within Scout's first 2 years, and many visits to the dog park, she suffered many injuries by playing with the other dogs, In those first 2 years, the insurance paid for itself. Thank goodness, I got it. More recently, in July of 2010, she suffered an injury to her knee and needed to have TTA surgery to repair a ligament. This is a very expensive surgery, costly about $5000. But I had no choice, Scout is like a child to me and I would do anything for her. With the ASPCA pet insurance, it ended

Great Service

We have a new puppy and enrolled in Trupanion with zero deductible. After a week of being covered our puppy had a slight yeast infection of the ear and Trupanion covered the price of the medication in 24 hours.

Life Saver

My lab rescue came with a Trupanion brochure. My vet suggested we enroll in pet insurance. Thank goodness! We had over $5,000.00 in vet expenses in year one alone; dysplasia, allergies, conjuctivitis, etc. Trupanion paid us back 90% including emergency vet expenses after he swallowed a tennis ball.

Not worth it unless if you have a puppy

I purchased Trupanion for my 8 year old dog because the company said that it would accept pets that have preexisting conditions but would not cover expenses related to those illnesses. The guidelines were pretty clear - any expenses related to the illness that was found before purchasing the insurance plan will not be covered. However, to my dismay, it seems that Trupanion evaluates every nitty gritty detail in order to deny your claims for any future illnesses that may incur. For example, my dog had to be rushed to the ER because he was vomiting and lethargic. As a result, he was diagnosed with Pancreatitis. Trupanion got back to me and sent me a letter that copied and pasted every comment starting from 2 years back when I informed my vet of incidents when he had indigestion and vomited. They said that those were "preexisting symptoms" that led up to my dog's illness 2 years later. Note, the vet never found any kind of stomach related illnesses until recently when I submitted the claim. Another problem I have with Trupanion is that they try to find any reason to deny your claim. For example, they approved one claim when my dog caught a cold from another dog, but when I submitted 2 more claims for the same illness, they denied them because "it was related to his preexisting condition." Seriously, I am on the fence about canceling my account with them right now. It makes no sense for me to continue purchasing Trupanion's service if they are not going to provide me any.

Epitome of GREAT customer service

Embrace has been a pleasure to work with since the day I signed up 3 years ago. I haven't had any major medical issues with my dog (minor skin issues/allergies/ear infections etc), hence no payments/checks made yet. However, whenever I have had claims processed to be put towards my deductible, it's been done quickly, efficiently, and most importantly, with such a pleasant and helpful attitude. Most insurance companies look for reasons to reject your claim -but Not Embrace. I am blown away by how willing to help each representative is. They are the epitome of great customer service. So far so good! And I have recommended them to others, as well as my vet's office, and I only hear good things in return as well. They definitely go above and beyond, over other pet insurance companies.

I don't get it

They don't cover congenital conditions at all and coverage for hereditary conditions is only for pets less than 2 and that is limited. Why would any thinking person purchase this policy?

So far so good

Hello, I just submitted my first claim after rushing my Blondie to the hospital while she kept vomiting blood. The claim got processed rather quickly.Of course, because it was a first claim, after the deductible, there wasnt much left in terms of dollars. But still almost 200 dollar which I am getting back:) But I'm still glad that this went smooth. It reassures me for future claims and problems.

Very impressed!

Daringly, i chose an English Bulldog for my first dog. After realizing how much this cute little ball of wrinkles would cost me in vet bills, i started to get a little nervous. I chose Embrace because they cover breed specific and genetic conditions, which would be the cause of most of my bullies vet visits. Right off the bat, my little bully suffered one rash after another and eventually cherry eye, a genetic condition requiring a very expensive surgery. i submitted the claim to Embrace with fingers crossed. I expected, like most insurances, that there would be some sort of fine print stating that the surgery would not be covered. I was never so happy to be wrong. Embrace covered the surgery and saved me over $500. They are efficient, attentive, and timely when it comes to reviewing claims. They kept me informed as to the status of my claim and even followed up to make sure i had received my return. I would recommend Embrace to any pet owner especially one who owns a purebred animal potential health problems. I'm very impressed!
