Great Pet Insurance

Kibo, my young chocolate lab, just turned two years old last week. He has chronic Kidney disease and now needs daily subcutaneous fluids which I have begun to do myself. Kibo is doing fine on this long term requirement and still active. The processing time of my claims from June & July have been reasonable based on their implementation of new software. I appreciate their genuine concern.

Worst insurance coverage I've ever had

When I applied for coverage my puppy was 3 and 1/2 months old. Embrace wanted me to get an orthopedic exam, and then they would wave the 6 mo. waiting period. My vet advised against this saying very young puppies can exhibit as if there was a joint problem because their joints, ligaments etc. are much looser than an older dog and can present as a problem when there actually is none. For this reason I didn't get the exam. A month before the end of the waiting period, my dog fell and bruised a muscle in her neck, which was diagnosed as a soft tissue injury. This was not a pre-existing condition, but because Embrace defines Orthopedic as including muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and joints they denied the claim. As far as I'm concerned they set you up to deny claims based on their definition of orthopedic . I was under the impression that would mean bones. Also although this claim was filed in May, I heard nothing from them until the beginning of July. Every week I would get an excuse, We're working on your claim. This isn't like Embrace." This has happened with every claim. I have a claim for an ear infection predating the soft tissue injury that I still haven't heard about. My vet had told me she heard this was good insurance. She now knows it isn't. I would not recommend it to anyone.

This was a positive experience

My cat had an upper respiratory infection that required four trips to the vet and several medications. Embrace processed and paid my claims right after they were submitted. Communication with me during the process and follow-up after the claim was paid was excellent

Spectacular experience!

I purchased Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for my dog, Frankie earlier this year. I lost her older brother late last year to bone cancer and am still paying off his medical bills so I thought pet insurance sounded like a good investment for Frankie. Well, it's already helped us out and I couldn't be happier with it!I found a little bump on Frankie's leg so we went to see our vet and she was concerned enough to take a sample and have it sent for cytology. This was the first claim I filed with Healthy Paws (for the aspirate and cytology). I was surprised by the phone call I received within a week to tell me that the claim would be covered. I was even more surprised that the first thing they asked me was "How is Frankie doing?" The gal I spoke with said they were sending the check out that day. I mentioned that Frankie was scheduled for surgery to have the mass removed because the results had indicated it was a mast cell tumor. :( The customer rep said that the surgery and anesthetic would also be covered. And that was much to my relief as the bill was estimated around $1000! I did get the check for the 1st claim the monday after our phone conversation but my jaw nearly hit the floor when I discovered we had also gotten the check for her surgery claim we only filed on the Thursday before! I can't believe they processed the claim that fast! I also got a follow up email asking me to let them know if Frankie was recovering well. Man, if only people health insurance was that good
