Impossible to file claims
I've had this insurance for over 4 years. In January, the price went up 235%. I have never filed a claim before, but have been attempting to in the last few months, as my dog recently got Cushing's Disease. It is impossible to file. Despite sending them reams of documents, they still say it isn't enough. Don't buy this - I've given them hundreds of dollars for absolutely no results, and now I can't get insurance for this costly disease anywhere else as it is an existing condition. They are all very polite, but it is still impossible to get any claim filed. Do not buy from this company.

Prompt service, but too many exclusions.
No problems with the services, but not covering pre-existing conditions (allergies in my dogs case) or dental care make me question if it’s worth it.

Our almost 15.
Our almost 15.5 year-old Westie, named Cody, is currently quite sick and needs quite a bit of medical care. I am very glad that I am able to get the best care for Cody without much consideration to the financial aspect as his insurance covers up to 90% without any maximum limit. Therefore, I would highly recommend trupanion to anyone who considers getting medical coverage for their pet. If I had another pet, I would certainly use trupanion again. .Maria

True Compassion and honesty
If I were allowed to I would kiss everyone at Trupanion! My dog was in ICU for 7 days while 5 vets tried to figure out what as causing her raging fever and laboured breathing. The bill was equivalent to about 4 months salary for me. Trupanion processed my claim in less than 24 hours, paying the full 90% of the pre-tax bill! And they do that every time. I never have to worry about them nickel and diming me or leaving me to wait and worry about money. They are not '˜read the fine print' people, I have never had a quarrel with them about some mystery clause in my contract that excludes an injury for some inane reason. They genuinely care about companion animals and their human staff.
