My cat was very sick and the vet didn't think he had a chance and suggested that maybe we should put him down, because he couldn't guarantee that he would make it if he treated him and the cost would be in the thousands , I said but I have pet insurance so we decided to try the treatment . Worth the money at the end
Easy to file a claim and reimbursed quickly (within 2 to 3 weeks after they receive the claim). I recommend VPI and will get again for our two new puppies when they arrive. My dog Max was covered since he was 7 months to the day he died at over 14 yrs old this March 2015. His coverage was the Superior Plan with Cancer Endorsement plus CareGuard Core Coverage with no medical exclusions. This year's cost was about $81 a month. Yes, it was on the expensive side but I wanted to be covered for the major expenses. I think when I first got it over 13 years ago it was $40 per month. His last bill was over 1,300 and VPI paid over $900. Through the years, when I did remember to file a claim, VPI reimbursed me about 30% to 50% for routine vet visit and medicine because I added the CareGuard Core Coverage. I simply faxed them the pre-filled Claim form which I could get anytime from their web site with the receipt and details of the bill I paid. I never had a problem. There's no time limit on when you can file a claim. I filed the last claim two months after I paid it. They even canceled the coverage when they saw Max had died without me having to tell them. If I had to name one improvement they could do, it would be for more details about my policy such as my monthly cost on their website. However, whenever I had a question about my policy, I could call them or email them and the response was quick.

I recently submitted my first claim through Trupanion for my cat, and the process was very easy! My vets office had me sign the paper, and my cats vet filled out the information regarding why I had to bring in my cat. They sent it in, and I was notified by email and phone was everything was received. It was my first claim so there was about a two week waiting period. Once everything went through, I received an email about the claim. I contacted Trupanion by phone for some questions, and they were very good about answering them. When I finished asking questions, the agent on the phone with me then asked how my cat was doing. A small gesture, that I was grateful for! I've since had direct deposit added, and a new claim for blood work, and urine sample were refunded quickly! Really easy to work with, and fast responses. I highly recommend them!

Easy, fast, & customer service was sympathetic
My dog had a tumor on his hind leg that had to be removed. My dog also had to undergo surgery for this procedure. After I filed the claim, I received e-mail statuses on the issue - letting me know that they have received my claim, that they are reviewing it, that the reimbursement check was mailed, etc. Customer service even reached out to me at the end, via e-mail, asking how my dog was and to "give him a hug" for them - how sweet! I was so glad I chose this company for my dog - it is by far the best.

Healthy Paws is the best!! The claim process is so easy, takes 2 minutes to lodge your claim online. Check received within a week. My dog recently had a serious accident and Healthy Paws have been so understanding and caring through the whole process. They made the claim process so smooth and easy that it left me the time to concentrate on my dog and not my finances. Also, unlike many other insurance companies, they cover hereditary conditions.
