The BEST thing we did for our Puppy!

Our 7 month old puppy, Zoey, was diagnosed with right hip dysplasia and needed major hip surgery. Trupanion approved the claim right through the vet who submitted the claim. Easy, simple and no hassle. A claim representative even called us to confirm the approval and assure us that everything would be handled. So happy that we chose the best pet insurance company!!

Trupanian is the bees knees!

I have a dog insured with VPI and one with Trupanian, there is no comparision. Trupanian is a dependable partner in maintaining my dog's health, they respond to claims with an email confirmation, and I have had claims settled in under 24 hrs, never more than 3 days. Compare this to 2 weeks to 1 month for VPI. Claims are paid promptly, and at the level expected. I adore Trupanian and will be a loyal customer for future pets.

4 cats!

With four cats who are all heading toward senior-ville, we are making more frequent trips to the Vet and sometimes to the Animal Emergency Clinic. I can't count the times I've said, "Thank goodness we have pet insurance," since we've had some huge bills. Having the insurance helps us keep our foursome healthy and for that, we're grateful.

Great service new member

I have only started using embrace. I do wish I would have known about them when I got my other dog. I was in a contract with a horrible vet and O believe if I could have chosen my vet she would still be alive. The conveince of picking my own vet is great and I use an app on my phone to scan the bills in which makes it easy to send.

Outstanding Service

On Aug 29 I adopted a cat, Buster, from Northeast Animal Shelter. A week after bringing him home he was being admitted to the Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital with upper respiratory issue/ possible lung issue. While sitting in the hospital waiting for Buster to be examined, I remembered at the time of adoption, NEAS advised we get a month free insurance with Trupanion Pet Insurance. I called Trupanion, on Aug 06 at around 9pm, and advised my cat was being seen and evaluated for difficulty breathing and I was wondering if this is something they would cover. Brendan, the representative that I was speaking to, was very caring and compassionate and advised he was going to start a pre-approval and I should have an answer by 7am the following morning. I received a call the first the next morning advising they are working on obtaining an estimate from the hospital and will provide me with an answer shortly. About two hours later, they called back and advised my pre-approval was approved. Buster remained in the hospital for a few days and was discharged on 09/09/2015 at 7:00pm; with a final diagnosis was feline asthma. The hospital submitted a statement and a claim form for me to Trupanion for reimbursement. On 09/10/2015 in the afternoon, I received an e-mail from Trupanion advising my claim was approved and a check was mailed out to my address. Buster’s hospital bill was $2670.12 and I was being reimbursed by Trupanion in the amount of $2,003.26. This was an emotionally and financially stressful situation I was in and I am so incredibly pleased and thankful with Trupanion. Everyone representative I had the pleasure speaking with was friendly, courteous, compassionate & caring. They treated my pet’s illness as though it was one of their own. Their response time was astonishing, they received my claim form and had my reimbursement check mailed out in less than 24 hours.

Only go by "codes"

My dog was impaled on a large branch in a creek. She had a hole in her belly the size of a quarter. The animal hospital had to operate on her overnight. They made a five inch incision to clean the wound and make sure there was no perforation of her stomach, and they installed a drain tube. The bills were over $1500. VPI/Nationwide treated it as a routine laceration and paid only $375. They said I couldn't talk to a medically trained reviewer, but could only talk to customer service, who would only talk about the "code." for laceration. They told me to go talk to my state insurance commissioner if I had a problem with it.
