Healthy Paws Cares About your Pets!
I have to say that I'm absolutely amazed at the level of service I received from Healthy Paws. It has made our lives SO much easier knowing that our pets are covered with insurance. It's not only the insurance that gives us peace of mind, it's the ease of filing claims (take a photo and submit through an app - couldn't be easier), the genuine care and concern from all of the Customer Service representatives I've spoken with and the speed at which claims are processed. I wish my health insurance company cared as much as they do! We have three dogs and I wish I had signed up for Healthy Paws years ago. My youngest dog recently tore both her cruciate ligaments, requiring surgery on both her legs. We had the surgery done on a Thursday. By Friday they had already processed the claim and submitted payment. It's stressful enough having to deal with an injured pet, but having 90% of $16,000 vet bills covered allowed us to focus on our dog and not the cost of the surgery. Additionally they followed up with an email a week after the surgery asking if she was ok. I highly recommend Healthy Paws to anyone considering Pet Insurance.

Why Healthy Paws Pet Insurance Is The Best.
my wife and i love our pups. we feel they should get the same care as we would give ourselves because they give us everything they've got. the give us their lives. not having had dogs growing up i realized i should start an emergency bank account fund for them in case one of them got sick. so i did that but little did i know how expensive quality vet care would be. 2013 - our pup teen needed spinal cord surgery. he is a teeny chihuahua and this was definitely a specialized surgery. our emergency vet (VMSG in ventura, california who i can't recommend high enough) saved his life. the total was $13,000. no worries. i have that emergency account and when would such an expensive surgery happen again? 2014 - our pup aud was diagnosed with stomach cancer. VMSG removed the tumor but it came back about 3 months later. she would soon end her battle with cancer in september but what we got was three entire months with our dearest girl. the total was $12,000. 2015 - teen was doing well but was too old to be insured but our other pup greta, a redbone coonhound, was still young enough. so we researched and picked healthy paws and boy am i glad we did. healthy paws is the ONLY pet insurance without a cap. meaning if your animal gets cancer or another expensive illness all you are responsible for is your annual deductible and then whatever amount your particular policy is set at. greta's is at 30% for us and 70% for healthy paws. the only reason i can think of someone picking a different pet insurance is because they don't realize how expensive emergency care can be. healthy paws won't cover: pre-existing conditions (no other pet insurance will either) standard vet and dental cleanings (which aren't as expensive as emergency surgery) and that's pretty much it. about 2 weeks ago we came home and greta got bloat. bloat can kill a dog in 8 minutes and our drive to VMSG is 20 minutes. it is a miracle but little greta made it there and VMSG not only was able to save her life but also diagnosed her with a mass on her spleen as was a paralyzed larynx. in fact if she hadn't bloated we would never have known about the spleen or larynx. the total cost for her surgeries was just over $11,000. but this time i had healthy paws. i was nervous because i didn't know if this insurance would do as it promised. i know that i personally have blue shield of california and it definitely doesn't do as it promises. but healthy paws did! they paid over $7,000 (their 70% minus deductible) and not only that but paid immediately. i got the first check 5 days after i filed a claim!! 5 DAYS!!!!! my primary concern is our beloved little ones. that's why i have the emergency fund. but i will NEVER get another pup without insuring them right away. in fact if you insure your animal immediately (puppy or older dog) you're better off as there will be no documented pre-existing conditions. i can't recommend healthy paws (& VMSG - Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group) high enough!!!!

Awsome service from Trupanion!
Thank goodness I had Trupanion. My Doodle swallowed a wing nut and a 1 1/2" bolt and two large pieces of plastic from the water dish attached to his kennel. An endoscopy removal kept us from having to do surgery. Trupanion checked with me after each interaction I had with them to make sure I had received satisfactory service. And we promptly received a 90% reimbursement with in a few days. I am recommending them to every dog owner I know! Thank you Trupanion!

Stay Away
I was sold a insurance policy that in my opinion had or has no intention of paying claims. I brought my dog in for allergies and would not of because I did not have the money to cover the bill. I pay $70.00 a month to trupanion they in turn went back and found anything they could to deny claim. That was the last straw I spent hundreds of dollars on this insurance and not one of the three claims did they pay anything. In my opion all three should have been covered it's crazy that they twist anything to not pay. When I called them they did not care the only time this company seemed to care was signing me up. STAY AWAY!! Save your money for if you pet is needing a vet because they won't pay it anyway.

Claim Denied that Should have been paid
My dog recently had an ear infection, which was not a pre-existing condition and yet Embrace denied the claim. The "reason" cited was that somehow the ear is related to a dermatological condition. The Veterinarian could not believe this bogus reason for denying the claim since an inner ear infection is of course NOT a dermatological condition. If Embrace does not reprocess and pay I will never renew this insurance and plan to address this in my newspaper column. As a consumer advocate, I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but this is ridiculous. Like my Veterinarian, I am incredulous.

Excellent insurance!!
So happy I got pet insurance for my new puppy! I bought the extra coverage for wellness stuff, which covered spaying and vaccines, but of course my pup had post-spaying problems - during a weekend, of course - and our visits to the Referral Center (emergency vets) and emergency surgery were covered! If only I'd done this with my previous pup, whose mystery GI infection ended up costing me $8000!
