Pretty good
We have had to use the insurance twice and were o.k. with the coverage. I thought we would get more money back, but something is better than nothing.

Illness exclusion upon policy renewal
We have always carried pet health insurance for all our dogs. Our claim history with Zuzu our 9 yr old mixed dachshund is scarce as we really had no terrible incidents, thank God. However I am very scare of that renewal clause in which any illness during a policy period will be considered a pre-existing condition, after certain age we all including pets develop arthritis etc. In Zuzu's case arthritis is the issue. If the insurance carrier offers a guaranteed coverage for an additional fee, this offer has a minimal disclosure, just to make sure that the majority of people will not even notice it. It is unfortunate that pet insurance is so deceiving and unregulated, pet owners consider their pets as their children and after years of paying for costly insurance premiums is heartbreaking to find yourself financing out of pocket your pet's medical needs. I intend to review all the pet insurance carriers in the market when my renewal approaches.

A big help
Rusty got sick quickly and it got very expensive very fast. It was nice to know that relief would come by getting these bills covered by insurance.

Embrace is Amazing.
Embrace insurance, and the claims process is amazing start to finish. It is easy, the staff is helpful, and the process is not stressful at all, at times when the rest of you and your pet's life and issues are stressful! I really cannot recommend a better company to use for your dog or cat. We have a newfoundland who we thought tore his ACL, and had to get xrays immediately. They were close to $1k, and almost all of that was covered. I am so happy to know we have Embrace to help us through these times for our giant breed.

Long illness large claims
Trupanion were very supportive by phone and email through this ordeal that lasted from April to Sept. Our claims were very large and were paid promptly. Our dog (mix of Airedale and Greyhound) developed polyarthritis from some unknown cause. she was so sick we thought we'd have to put her down. UC Davis veterinary school helped her through it but even they weren't sure of what made her ill. She is now cured. Trupanion helped us through all of this very expensive process.

Great service!
This was the first year in the many that he's been covered by ASPCA Pet Health Insurance that my cat had any medical needs aside from his regular wellness exam (which his insurance has regularly covered most of) -- and boy was I glad that I've had him insured! Several vet appointments, multiple blood tests, meds, x-rays... the out-of-pocket costs were pretty staggering. Four separate claims -- but then I got my insurance reimbursements, and most of it was covered, and I got reimbursed 80% of what I had paid. The claims were processed quickly, the reimbursements were direct-deposited into my account, and I received follow-up calls from the ASPCA customer service representatives to find out how my cat was doing and if they could be of any further assistance. Fortunately he has fully recovered, is eating well once again, and is one happy kitty!

Finds ways not to pay
My dog had pancreatitis prior to enrollment and understandably they did not cover. However anytime my dog has diarrea which is a symptom of many many things they will not cover saying it's related to pancreatitis even though the vet has clearly out, ones that is is unrelated. BE CAREFUL with the fine print .....andi even pay the premium. I have had it and am going to cancel and encourage all of my friends to do the same.
