Fantastic!

Our baby George Harrison had to get a sweatband cut out of his tummy. It was a horrible experience with the only saving grace being this insurance! The surgery was over 4k and Trupanion paid out most of the cost very quickly. Thank you!!!

A Waste of Money - Go With Pet Secure Instead

Warning: Do not use Trupanion as a pet insurance company. They are pathetic. Their phone representatives are friendly, but their policies ridiculous. Nearly four years ago, my five cats and I moved from Japan to Vancouver, Canada. I enrolled the younger three with Pet Secure, and the older two with Trupanion (10 yrs old at time of enrollment) because Trupanion offered 90% coverage, and I felt that the older two would be more likely to need it. Not so. Surprisingly, I've had to file numerous large (and successful)claims for my younger cats with Pet Secure, but until recently, my two older have never needed to file a claim. After thousands of dollars of premiums and multiple phone calls and emails to Trupanion over the course of several weeks to work out the claim, my cat Emily's claim was completely denied. The reason? The vet suspected she needed to have a tooth extracted (dental is supposed to be covered), but during the surgery, it was discovered that extraction was not needed and the tooth could be fixed. So Emily kept her tooth and the claim was denied. Trupanion said it was because cleaning isn't covered, but the whole reason for Emily's care was not 'cleaning' but fixing a tooth that had previously appeared to need extraction. With the deductible, the most we could have hoped to get back was a couple hundred dollars anyways, and they made me trouble my poor Japanese vet with sending records from years ago(They make you struggle so much before they will even look at your claim. Why would you not ask for medical information at the time of enrollment rather than 4 years post-registration? They tell me they don't ask for medical records at the time of enrollment to make it 'easier' for the pet parent. Yet, I spent HOURS tracking down records spanning the globe and going back nearly five years because that's what Trupanion requested. How is that easier? It worked out well for Trupanion, though. What they mean is it is "easier" for Trupanion to get people signed up and pay outrageous premiums quickly. Because you didn't ask for records up front, you got 3.5 years of premiums from me for two cats and I never suspected that I was j

Review

I have been with Trupanion since our little guy was a puppy. We have an amazing Vet...Dr. O'Reilly. My only complaint with the insurance company is the rising cost of insurance....although....our little guy has had major surgery at a year old and the cost has more than paid for itself within the 8 years that I have had it. Other than that Trupanion is quick at handling claims in a timely manner.

My Tabby Wilma

My cat got sick, I was not sure what was wrong but she was lethargic and was not eating. I took her to the vet (I finally found one that is caring and honest)she recovered and I submitted the bills and got reimbursed quicker than I ever thought and it was pretty simple to do, no muss no fuss. I checked the status online and bam the money came in the mail. It was that simple. Frankly I was quite skeptic of this as I heard some stories around but this company made me loose all my fears. I believe there might be a waiting period before you can claim, but I'm not sure. I have that with my private humana dental insurance (you have to wait a year before you can use it) but I don't think its not the case with Embrace, they just check prior illness and if the pet has had it within the same year its not covered I believe but that's mostly the same with all private insurances mostly. Any way I think this company was one of my best decisions I have made regarding being overly pre-pared as I tend to be sometimes. Buy it you wont be sorry.

Very supportive process

We have been Pets Best customers for 8 years. Every time we submitted a claim or needed information, the customer service was outstanding. It was very reassuring to know we wouldn't have to make difficult healthcare decisions for our fur child based on cost.
