Lab Puppy Swallows Pacifier- Embrace Saves the Day
I purchased an Embrace insurance policy as soon as we brought home our 8 week old lab puppy. He had some normal health issues, stomach upset, an ear infection, neutering and Embrace responded each time in a friendly and timely manner. Now 10 months old- our lab puppy swallowed a pacifier which became lodged in his intestines, causing a complete blockage. There is no option other than emergency surgery to fix this issue, or death. At 2 AM in the emergency room, when faced with the option of surgery or putting him down, it was easy to opt for surgery knowing Embrace was behind us. Instead of $4000 bill, we paid our 20% co-pay and our lab is back to normal (plus one giant scar). I have to say, I watched more then one person at the desk pull out credit card after credit card just to pay for their pets health care and it was heartbreaking. Knowing that I wasn't going to have to put my family in financial jeopardy AND that I could save our dog, was the greatest confirmation that buying an Embrace policy was the best decision we made as dog owners.

Be Prepared for Huge Rate Increases
Great insurance, but they rope you in...Once you are a long time customer and they know you now have "pre existing conditions" they raise your rates so that the policy is unaffordable to maintain!! I just received a annual rate increase for my 7 year old Boston Terrier from $58.76 per month to $84.90 per month...WHAT???? That is more than 40% increase!!! More than human insurance increases!!! I am better off depositing the $60 per month in a separate account for future medical expenses...Buyer Beware!! Not very honorable business if you ask me!! Be prepared for huge rate increases each year until you just can't afford this insurance anymore!!

Relief in a time of sadness
When my partner and I adopted a little kitten that we would later name Charles, he was a rescue, but was given a clean bill of health with no apparent pre-existing medical conditions. Three weeks ago, he broke his arms and we opted to have him undergo surgery, the best but, admittedly, the most expensive option. It was only an option because we had insured Charles with Pets Plus Us. Unfortunately, two weeks into his recovery, he broke a third limb. This incident we did witness, and we were able to see that this break was due to a fall from a very low height. For that reason, our vet actually advised that he was quite possibly suffering from a rare bone disorder. A full diagnosis would have been near impossible (they have to go down to the DNA level for that), but we regardless decided that we should probably let Charlie go, to avoid the risk of having him go through any more suffering. It’s ultimately a really sad story, but Pets Plus Us did make this whole thing a lot more bearable, and at the very least, it gave us two more weeks with our cat. It was an awfully big payout for a policy we only held for maybe three months. I'm obviously now a huge advocate for pet insurance. We'll be signing up with Pets Plus Us again when we get our next cat.

The best pet insurance we've found
We have two dogs and both had claims a few weeks apart.The first one took a little time, but the reimbursement was made to our satisfaction. The second is taking a little time as well, but when I call, a representative explains what is happening and is very helpful. This is a great company.

Get Peace of Mind with Healthy Paws
I debated on getting pet insurance when I first got my dog, but it was the smartest, best decision I've ever made. You just never know when something is going to happen. With my puppy, it turned out he had a genetic disorder called luxating patella which he needed major surgery on both back legs. Healthy Paws was so quick to send the claim check! I was so worried because the vet said that a lot of insurance companies will find ways out of covering this surgery, and I was so relieved when it was so easy!! Healthy Paws is the way to go!! I can't express how amazing this insurance is. This very week I just had the most horrible week, because my puppy got sick and the doctors could not figure out what was wrong. He had x-rays, surgery, biopsies, ER visits, an insane amount of meds and the only peace of mind I had the whole time was knowing that I had Healthy Paws, and they are covering 90% of all his x-rays, surgery, meds, and various procedures. For a week straight my dog was not eating, not getting better and no one knew why...I can't imagine what a massive train wreck I would've been without Healthy Paws. One of the best decisions I made and will continue to make for his entire life! Worth it, so very very worth it!

We have been using Trupanion for several years for our two English Bulldogs. After Princess developed seizures we had to begin the claims process and to our surprise, Trupanion was very easy to work with and very clear in their communication. All of the eligible claims have been covered as stated in the policy and payments mailed promptly. Their customer service and claims process is very efficient. I also appreciate that the claims can be submitted a variety of ways (snail mail, email or fax). I would absolutely recommend Trupanion.
