SO worth it!
I'll admit I probably spent a crazy amount of time researching Pet insurance companies but I know it’s paid off. Once I started thinking about our dogs getting sick or severely hurt, I knew I didn’t want our hesitations to be financially based. We would without a doubt spend all we could to help them, but wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to?Enter Pet insurance.. I did a ton of research. From pre-existing condition guidelines, hereditary coverage, lifetime or yearly caps, to hip dysplasia, I read it all. I read reviews, I called companies and asked questions, I read blogs, and I asked my vet. I receive a substantial discount through work for one company and felt so strongly about my research that we decided to use a different company (that should say something!). I didn’t want “cheap” insurance; I wanted reliable coverage that was a good value. I didn’t want to pay a large amount each month to never get anything out of it when needed. Healthy Paws has proved to be just that and has exceeded all expectations. We now have two dogs (large mix breeds - 1 Lab mix and 1 German Shepard mix) that are 6 years old and they have been covered for 2+ years. Our most recent scenario required us to submit our largest claim to date. Our lab at a small rug (he’s not even a chewer!) and it became anchored in his intestines. Of course this happened on a Sunday when our normal vet was not open. Thankfully, we have a nearby fantastic (yet pricey) emergency hospital that was able to check out our Bentley quickly. After having X-Ray’s completed they were able to confirm that parts of the rug were anchored and needed to be surgically removed. We were given the estimate range of cost and signed away. 3 days later, Bentley was almost as good as new and able to come home. Two weeks later, he’s currently enjoying not having to wear the cone of shame or taking multiple medicines a day. This was not our first time submitting a claim but it was as easy as ever and we received our reimbursement around a week later in the mail. We have 80% coverage with a $250 deductible and instead of Bentley’s surgery costing us $5,500 (which was our final bill); we only paid $1,300 since we had not hit our deductible prior to this incident for the year. SO thankful as we’re about to close on a new home and would have had to reduce our down payment because of this if we didn’t have insurance. My biggest tip for those interested in having their furbabies insured is to do your research! Make sur

Healthy Paws is the best, paws down
"Free dog." Suuure! When our "free" 9-year-old dog Kibbie fell in January, he had to have a surgery to remove his tendons and ankle and replace them with a steel plate. This month, we found out that he also cracked two molars in that fall--one of which could be bonded, the other of which had to be removed. Total cost? Without Healthy Paws pet insurance, we would have paid about $7,500. With the plan we've got, including the $45 monthly charge for the insurance, we paid a $250 deductible, followed by 10%--$975 out of pocket for the healthcare (or $1,290 when you factor in the monthly costs of having the insurance, plus our cost for the care). Savings so far this year: $6,210. Thanks to Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, Kibbie is healthy and happy and we are not broke.

A Godsend
We got our Brandi pet insurance when we brought her home from the breeder and a well puppy check up at the Vet. For years she was a healthy and happy girl. At about age 6 she exhibited symptoms and we discovered she had atypical Addison's disease. ASPCA helped. Then about 6 months ago she tore a CCL and needed expensive surgery. ASPCA helped again. We are retired and the help from ASPCA enables us to take care of our girl and help with these expenses. They have been an honorable fine company to this point, and I'm so happy we insured our pup when we first brought her home. Thanks ASPCA Pet Insurance!

SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS INSURANCE
I am so thankful that I purchased this insurance. My 2 year old male husky somehow twisted, fell, and or tripped in our back yard one evening. We ended up taking him to the 24 vet on a Sunday with a swollen front paw. He was put on "bed rest" and given some medicine for 2 weeks. Unfortunately his leg remained swollen, so after follow up with his regular vet he was referred to a specialist for a bone fracture and a ligament issue. He ended up having to have surgery to repair the injury. So far we are up to $4,800 in vet bills, thank God I have this insurance. The insurance has paid his bills (less our portion) without issue and very timely. It is so refreshing to have a company actually perform as promised. Every single person I have spoken to at the company in the 2 years we have had the insurance has been excellent. THANK YOU!!!

Wonderfull and Compassionate Insurer!
Unfortunately our poor little Archie, at only 5 1/2 months old, had to be put down due to acute Diabetes with organ complications. It is so sad when a family pet passes on but even worse, when it is a puppy that should have had his whole life ahead of him. We were devastated!!!I would like to extend our thanks to Pets Plus Us for their over-the-phone compassion and for their valued assistance which was provided to us during this horrible time. I highly recommend Pets Plus Us as it provided our family with peace of mind during the discovery process of Archie’s illness which in turn allowed us to provide all the necessary care that he so desperately needed during his short lived life. Our decision to insure our beloved pet with Pets Plus Us was the best decision we could have taken as responsible pet owners. After numerous vet visits, the bills started to add up and not once did we ever consider not pursuing his illness because of the expense associated with it! My claims were processed in under 14 days and the last and most expensive claim was processed in under a week. Moreover, a donation was made in Archie's memory. I commend their friendly staff and never felt alone, which is of paramount importance during a crisis such as this! I will absolutely insure our next puppy/dog with Pets Plus Us solely based on my experience with this company.

Embrace Insurance is extremely user friendly.
I appreciate the customer service, the email reminders, and the people on the other end of the phone line helping me learn how this insurance works. I added the wellness package and with the new puppy, it's been worth every penny. I gave this insurance a 10, but I've never had this type of insurance before.

Would not choose again
After spending over $15,000 in 11 months for a bad vaccination we decided that our new dog would be fully insured. We went with their best plan. Now, I wish I hadn't chosen Nationwide. After being told that I did not need to submit medical records I was told that I did after submitting my first claim - which by the way was for vaccinations and a neuter - nothing more than what responsible pet owner provides for their pet, no crazy treatment or illness, just routine items. I was told no more than 30 days for them to be reviewed and my claims processed. On day 30 I called to find out what was going on - I was told that they needed 30 MORE days due to heavy volume to process my records and that a letter was mailed to me two days prior but it might take longer to get to me because I am in MI and it was mailed from CA (these are not the days of the pony express people). Funny how I get emails on everything else but that. As far as I can see if you are asking me for double the time frame you must have double the workload (which clearly you are not staffed for) which means that you are failing to meet the agreed upon expectations of 50% of people in my shoes. Not a good sign. I have a feeling that if I were to ask for 30 more days to make my premium payment they wouldn't be as understanding as they expect me to be. More than likely I would get cancelled. Unfortunately, I am at their mercy. Nothing about my experience with Nationwide has been good or as promised. Given that I have yet to get a cent on my claims I am giving them a rating of 1.
