Premium Doubled, Rules Change As They Go Along
We selected Trupanion because they were supposed to cover more than other insurance companies, and said they do not raise the rates as the pet ages. Our first few claims were paid as expected. We thought great, they operate just as they promised. Then after several months, they stopped paying when my dog had a few ear infections. They claimed it suddenly had become a pre-existing condition. If it wasn’t pre-existing when the policy began, why was it several months into the policy? When my dog developed an intestinal problem, they helped pay for the prescription food. After a couple of months, they said they had changed the policy, and they are limiting prescription food coverage to 60 days. Now after having the policy for a couple of years, the premium almost doubled ($55 to $100 per month). Their explanation is they were behind on rate increases, and they need to catch up so they can match their revenues to their expenditures. So if you decide to purchase this insurance, be prepared to have them change the rules as the game goes along. Once your pet gets older and needs more medical treatment, the policy will likely be too expensive to afford.

Mixed emotions.
First off, we are thankful we have insurance for Addie as the bill would have been about $10000 at this point and we have paid $2000. The mixed emotion with this review is that we do feel that the marketing is a little misleading in suggesting it is just a $250 deductible. I appreciate the % varies depending on the policy, but to have to pay for consultations is a bit of a kick in the teeth. - It's like selling a car without an engine in it. Clearly it is needed and should be covered in the insurance plan.

You guys are the best my dog recently had to have surgery you covered 90 percent if I had not had insurance I might not of been able to save him he is healing and is doing great. I couldn't have done it without trupanion. Thank you so much!

When my dog Jelly was
When my dog Jelly was extremely sick from something he had ingested and had to go to emergency Trupanion didn't want to pay for the coasts they said he had a pre-exixting condition. I had to back to his previous foster parents and to the pound he was in before being fostered to prove that he was a healthy dog. In the end they paid the expenses. A month ago my dog Jelly was attacked by a German Shepherd and nearly died. He was in intensive care for 3 weeks and is still undergoing treatment. The medical bills are over 11,000 and ongoing. I'm waiting to see how Trupanion handle the claim before forming my opinion of them. Online and word of mouth they get good reviews.

Great experience with insurance
My dog needed medications for some ailments he acquired. I called to inquire what the insurance covered and how to go about getting reimbursement. I was given all important information, had all paper work filled out and was reimbursed shortly there after. My experience was very positive.

So far, so good. I am recommending them to everyone-I never thought my cat would end up in the hospital with bills over $10,000 and if I didn't have this insurance my cat would not be alive! Still waiting for my check but it hasn't even been 2 weeks. I will be adding my other cat and dog to my policy in the next couple of days. Thank you Trupanion!

My 1 and half year old French Bulldog was diagnosed with epilepsy after a series of seizures and a three day stay at the vet hospital. The team at Healthy Paws was fantastic, they always called us back within a few minutes and processed our claims very quickly and efficiently. It was once less thing we had to worry about during a very stressful time. They also reached out to check and see how we and our dog were doing, which was extremely thoughtful and greatly appreciated. We love Healthy Paws and I'm so thankful we chose them!

Amazing service and claim response
We have had our Akita pup for 2 1/2 years now, we got healthy paws shortly after picking up Callie! We are so grateful for healthy paws, Callie has been thru a lot. She had knee surgery last year and we don't know what we would've done if we didn't have Healthy Paws behind us! Just recently Callie had a terrible upset stomach, that required blood work, xrays, and some IV treatments, again Healthy Paws was there for us! Filing a claim couldn't be easier and there claim is so QUICK! I can't say enough good things about this company! I will tell anyone who will listen how GREAT they are!!!!!! Thank you healthy paws!
