Nice people, but VERY limited coverage
Pros: Nice people and nice website. Cons: You must repeatedly submit a claim; I had multiple lost claim forms (not sure how that happens on a web-based system). I have never had a single claim paid...ever. Each time I'm told there was some pre-existing injury or the the coverage doesn't include the care (e.g. "A well-check up is not included."). In fact, when I purchased the insurance, I received an exhaustive list of all the future injuries that would not be covered. It was huge. I would NOT recommend paying for this insurance unless you have a newborn pet. I paid over three hundred dollars for a plan and it is $300 I will never see again.

Kind, Caring, Caring and Trustworthy
I have 2 dogs insured with healthy paws. One has unfortunately had health issues over the last 2 years. Healthy Paws has made it easier for us to deal with the burden of many surgeries. Not only are they kind and caring, they are efficient in handling the claims so you can get reimbursed in a timely fashion. We are very fortunate to have chosen H.P. for our insurance carrier.

Most amazing experience! Health Paws
We have never had pet insurance with any of our other dogs. This was a first at the insistence of our pet sitter. So thankful because Bella who is 1 1/2 years old had to have major leg surgery and the cost was appx 5,300.00! Far beyond what we could afford. Healthy paws made the experience easy and every time I called they were so very kind. Not only that but I literally took a picture of the vet invoice and 4 days later, with no questions asked, we had approval for a Healthy Paws payment of 90% of the bill. Thankful just does not seem like a strong enough word!

Insurance for older dogs
I really appreciate that this insurance covers dogs for their entire life. I started my insurance policy at age 12, anticipating more health challenges as my dog Clyde got older. It was just in time for a cancerous nail bed tumor, that needed surgery. That kept high quality canine companionship in my life 2+ more years. As a labrador mix, Clyde always ate crazy stuff, which can mean surgery depending on what he eats. Such peace of mind to know that the insurance would cover it and I would not have to hesitate to take him to the vet because of cost.

Murphy
I signed up with Healthy Paws insurance for my dog Murphy, in 2013, when he was a pup. It was my first time buying pet insurance, so I read the reviews, found Healthy Paws was rated highly, so I signed up (80% reimbursement/$250 annual deductible). About 5 months later, Murphy developed a benign growth on his face and I had it removed and submitted the claim to Healthy Paws for payment. Easy! The claim was paid w/no problem. Then, last week (8/16), Murphy went in for a bi-lateral TPLO (major surgery on both back legs). The bill was going to come to around $6,400. I called Healthy Paws to see if pre-authorization was required. I was told no, just email them the invoice and claim form. The claim was processed within 24 hours and the check is on the way. (They even sent an email, asking how Murphy was doing!) Any dealings I've had with Healthy Paws has been professional and caring. With the high cost of vet care, it's a good idea to have pet insurance, and I strongly recommend Healthy Paws based on my experience with them!

Got what I bought
Unfortunately, our dog became ill and had to be put down during the first year of our policy. We now have a new dog who is covered too. This company offers great coverage administered by an outstanding claims department. This company delivers!

Read the Contracts, then Pick FIGO
I am extremely analytical in nature. I probably studied the details of pet insurance for 40-50 man hours (also putting it against just saving money in a savings account) before deciding to go with FIGO. If you narrow it down to the top 2 or 3 and compare their coverage, it's easy to see that FIGO covers quite a bit more with fewer exclusions. Anyway, on to my personal story: my "boys" two English Bulldogs, 1 and under 1 have not had great luck. The youngest got pneumonia, racked up a 1900 between the emergency vet and regular vet within the second month of having FIGO. I held my breath because I had read so many awful reviews online of other companies but they were truly wonderful and I totally trust them now after repeated positive experiences. I wish their hadn't been so many claims this first year but I'm chalking it up to the puppy stages with these guys.

First beer bill submitted, first bill paid.
No complaints so far. My Vizsla had a bump on his back removed and Pets Vest covered as expected. The only reason I've given an 8 instead of 10 is because they raised my rate $25 after first year.

Teririble waste of money and time
I've never been so upset with a service in my life. My pet has had multiple issues that I've taken her to the vet for. Apparently Trupanion sees these all as one issue that is "preexisting" so after 4 months of paying $300 for an insurance plan I don't even get anything applied to the deductible. Each time she's gotten sick it's been a new episode. Canceling my plan ASAP. Read the veterinarians review from August 2nd. Wish I'd seen that before I signed up in March.
