Poor response time, claim rejected even though similar claim was approved before.

After a length wait and talk on the phone to discuss why our second claim was rejected, they told us our original claim should never have been approved in the first place because it should not have been deemed 'an accident'. I had originally e-mailed them to clarify (no response after three days) and had to call them and spend close to hour on the phone to get this response! Awful experience.

Just Get It!

I've had Healthy Paws since 6/6/2020, since my dog was a puppy with no medical issues. I have never had any issues with them. They cover my dog's $90 medication, roughly every 45 days. They've paid for $200 worth of medication. They have covered his ER visit of ~$500. They covered dental bills three times — the first was a slab fracture, the second was a broken tooth. The third time was this year, after he was found to have a cyst during his last dental in Nov 2025. He had to go to the dentist to have this fixed — $3700. They covered it, leaving my out of pocket cost to $371. I work at a vet and I recommend Healthy Paws to clients on the daily. I recently got a new puppy (now a year old) and enrolled him in insurance the day I brought him home. They have covered his car sickness medication. The point is, pet insurance IS worth it. Pay attention to the poor reviews — most of the time, the pet was denied because it was a pre-existing condition. Many people dont think of that when they enroll. Something as minor as vomiting, diarrhea, a little itchiness...all of that can (and likely will) be listed as a pre-existing condition. Get pet insurance before your pet has any issues! And yes, it can be costly. Premiums rise every year. This is a business, after all. Premiums rise due to rising vet costs. It all depends on what you can afford. I can afford a monthly $150 for two dogs, but I can't afford to drop 4-5k on an ER visit or illness without being paid back (I recommend opeing a CareCredit and an Affirm credit card, since you do have to pay out of pocket first and then reimbursed). All in all...10/10. I will never have another dog/cat without health insurance. Healthy Paws is where it's at. I'd never go elsewhere.
