Peace of mind
I wasn't sure we needed pet insurance for our pup, but Healthy Paws will always be one of the best decisions I've met in caring for our little buddy. They have pretty wide coverage and their customer service department is on top of it! I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS INSURANCE!
I do not recommend this insurance company. They will find any reason not to pay. They will never explain their reasons for not compensating. My veterinarian sent over records of my dog and they lied about not receiving them. You will pay every month and you will not be compensated if you need to file a claim, so save your money and invest elsewhere.

Thank God for Trupanion!
I am on a very limited income since my husbands death and the fury baby that I adopted has continual UTI's. She has had one surgery and there may be more but after paying my initial deductable, Trupanion picks most of it up. I would have been forced to rehome her if I had to pay these bills. Thank to ALL of you at Trupanion for keeping Oreo and I together!

HealthyPaws has been great!
I'd be lying if I said that I expected to ever be going out of my way to give praise to an insurance company, yet here we are. My dog had a seizure for the first time the other week which was a pretty stressful experience, but fortunately a number of very expensive tests have revealed no worrying symptoms and she quickly returned to her normal, happy self. I wasn't exactly looking forward to submitting a claim for the first time based on my prior experiences with human insurance, but HealthPaws completely subverted my expectations. Submitting the claim took about five minutes and, with no additional interaction from me, I received an email several days later confirming that I would be receiving reimbursement in the amount that I had expected. This was especially remarkable to me, given the ongoing disruption caused by the pandemic. I really appreciate the speed with which HealthyPaws processed my claim and that I came out of the experience feeling that I had been dealt with fairly. It's reassuring to know that I can get my pet the treatment she needs and trust that HealthyPaws will have our back! I highly recommend HealthyPaws to any pet owner, as the peace of mind it gives me is well worth the modest monthly premium.

Insurance that lives up to their word.
After our puppy’s first vet appointment, the vet advised us to get pet insurance. There were so many. But we decided on going with Embrace Pet Insurance. I added the Wellness Rewards to my dog’s coverage. When we went to have her spayed, I contacted Embrace to see if the spay operation would be partially cover the operation. They contacted me and stated it would be, up to $250.00. I submitted the claim and they sent me a check for $250.00. The process was very easy. No hassles, no excuses. We’re happy to be with Embrace Pet Insurance.

Used to be something different/better
Nationwide used to be amazing- I had heard horror stories of pet insurance from clients (used to work at a vet practice) so I was nervous to get it, but I signed up my Irish Wolfhound as a puppy. It was great. He was on the Wellness Plus which was a $250/annual deductible with up to 90% back. I never had any issues submitting claims/getting money back. Now, three years later, it's like a totally different company. Claims take forever- I'd say at least 1/2 of my claims are denied and I have to resubmit just to have them approved that time (doubling my wait times for reimbursement)- customer service has really gone downhill and while they claim to not raise your rates due to illness, my wolfhound went from like $85/month the first year to $125/month the next year and we're at a whopping $145/month on year three. When I asked why he's gone up so much, no one would tell me. I would've respected them much more if they said he had "x" happen so that had to raise rates, but they just give the same line of "well, prices fluctuate based on market" etc. Of course now I can't take him off because he would have a pre-existing condition with any other insurance, so I'm stuck. To give you some idea of what it's like to enroll a new pet with this new Nationwide, I tried to get my newly adopted mastiff onto their wellness plus plan about 6 months ago (he is 2 years old) and he was denied due to 'pre-existing condition'. I was shocked & asked to speak to someone, as he doesn't have any medical issues to my knowledge, as his owner. Well he was denied for, and I cannot believe it either... ache. My dog has chin acne because of how heavy his head is and the little hairs on his chin get impacted sometimes... which isn't uncommon with this breed and is not a 'medical condition'. I asked to speak to a vet on staff or have my vet call in to speak to someone to explain, as this had to just be some misunderstanding and was shut down. I was shocked. Just beware with Nationwide now. It used to be such a good company but it has changed a lot.
