Lifesaving for my dog

We'adopted Bentley in March. April was the soonest we could get him to our vet for a check up and he was in great shape. She suggested pet insurance and Healthy Paws was one of her choices. I've never insured a pet before and I'm glad I did. Just a couple of months ago he was diagnosed with a sarcoma. It was small and the surgeon was able to get all of it. Being retired and on a fixed income we were very happy with Healthy Paws. Their claim procedure is simple and they were very fast. Even with the slowness of the mail these days we received a check within a few days of their review. Thank you Healthy Paws!

Coverage hasn't started after almost one year of paying!

Very very poor customer service. We have been paying monthly premiums for close to a year but none of the claims haven't been processed and no refund hasn't been made. I called them numerous times to find out what is going on. Each time, different representative tells me underwriting is not completed as the my vets haven't sent them my dog's medical record. So I told them to contact my vets to do so and they said they would. A couple months later, nothing happened so I called again and same conversation happened. Or some said totally different things. One said she would CC me in the Email to the vets. Ive never received any Email. One said she would followed up with me in a couple days, I never got a call back. I also had to call my vet to tell them to complete the process and they said they did. Finally, I spoked to a reliable staff at my Vet who really felt bad about my situation and helped me to find out what was going on. She called Petsecure and they said the medical record they recieved from my Vet was imcomplete as their Fax machine had issue! Why didn't they follow up with my Vet? Basically, they left it as is. They were gonna leave it as long as who knows..It is very unprofessional. Is it customer's responsibility to call vets and insurance company back and forth to figure out and complete the underwriting process? On the other hand, they never forgot to call me to give them my new credit card number when I renewed my credit card. I guess its not their best interest to start the coverage for my dog while im paying the monthly premiums every month. As of today, my dog's coverage hasn't started after paying for almost a year!

Best pet insurance i could have found!

I have had Healthy Paws for about 5 years now. I got the insurance on a whim after getting a Dachshund (Frankie) from a friend who needed a home. He was about 1 year old or so. A few months after getting the insurance I had to take Frank to the vet because he was choking a lot. After blood work, tests and xrays we found out Frank had Congestive heart failure and an enlarged heart. He would need to be on meds daily forever. He also started having some allergy issues. Basically a little problem child of ours. His medication and tests was covered by healthy paws by 90% !! They are literally a life saver. I could never be able to afford the hundreds of dollars a month for the 4 seperate medications he needs daily. The vet even tells everyone Frankies story. Healthy Paws is amazing. They cover the health problems Frank has now and may have in the future.

Absolutely sucks as a company.

Absolutely sucks as a company. They draw you in with all their niceness, making you forget its business. That they care for you. at the end, its all bull. I've never had such a tough time in my life putting my first claim through insurances. Trupanion made it a living hell for me to put it through, having me call my own doctors to provide more information as they're incapable of doing. Oh, and calling customer service? They all read off a damn script when you begin to push why your animals need more information/etc. I've had trupanion over a year for my kitties. Only had two claims to put. Both denied. Never again am I going with this company. Go with Embrace. Edit: Trupanion has reached out to me after this review (Wow, now they care about my situation?) Unfortunately, it ended up in an 30 minute call with them re-explaining to me why they weren’t able to cover a claim. Funny how they ask us to provide proof on how two, logically unrelated conditions are unrelated with vet’s approval (by the way, no vet will put themselves into this situation. I’ve been told by two vets already, if they’re asked to explain how a condition is unrelated to another, its a trick question.) Not to mention they make you do all the dirty work by bothering vets to write letters and such, as if trupanion doesn’t have the ability to simply email the vet and ask them formally for the explanation. My vet would take a trupanion official email way more serious than me just asking him. But when confronted to explain why they think its related? “Uh, well, you mentioned that your cat gagged a month ago. Him losing his voice now is related.” Thanks, “we’re always here for you.”

So very grateful we had Embrace coverage! The process was very easy and we couldn’t be happier with Embrace Pet Insurance!

Our Shih Tzu ingested poison, and we feared he would pass away. It was so scary! We took him to vet and thankfully they were able to flush his system out. What a huge blessing our Embrace pet insurance covered the bills.

Great Communication

I am a new customer to Pets Best and I had a question about a note on my account. I called and my question was answered quickly and all the email and website communication since has been perfect. I am glad I changed my pet's insurance to Pets Best.

Trupanion is a pubicly traded company that is a business.

Trupanion bases their monthly cost on the area you live in and the breed. No consideration for any personal health issues regarding your dog. I started with Trupanion when the dog was 6 months old to lock in a low rate. Luckily he has few health issues but Trupanion has raised his rate from $50 monthly to now $215 monthly even though the dog has no health issues other than a medication that he takes that costs less than $50/month. They are completely impersonal and care more about their business than the individual dog owners and the dogs personal medical issues. I have been lucky to have a healthy dog but unlucky to have chosen Trupanion due to them raising the monthly cost more than 430% since I started with this insurance company. I understand this is a publicly traded company that cares more about its shareholders than any personal consideration for you or your dog's health. I have been totally ripped off by this company but have no other recourse other than to inform other pet owners to beware of this company that will more than quadruple your rates once you choose them to insure your pet.

Poor communication of documents needed for processing claim

Although I am glad to receive payment, I am not pleased with the claims process. My dog was treated for removal of porcupine needles in his mouth. This happened after hours and I needed to go to the on-call Vet that was covering for my dog's regular Vet. The claim was originally submitted in May 2020. The first hold up was the fact that the invoice number was different on the bill and on the receipt of when it was paid (which was the night of service) I kept getting messages that they needed the name, phone and address of Buddy's Veterinarian. I provided that. They then asked for my dogs records. I had my Vet send them. They kept asking for the records. I kept telling them that the Veterinarian office sent them. They then dropped the claim because of not receiving the records. I resubmitted the claim and finally talked to someone that told me that what they needed was the "doctor's notes" meaning the Notes of the doctor that was on call who had performed the removal of the porcupine quills, not the Records from his regular Vet. The whole experience was annoying. It took 3 months and lots of phone calls. Both Veterinarian offices were great in helping me. I told them that I would not recommend Pet's Best.

Healthy Paws is awesome, they are very supportive and filing a claim is simple and easy.

We have had insurance with Healthy Paws for the past 3 years. We have a very active Goldendoodle who is very active and has required medical treatment. Healthy Paws makes it easy. I take a picture on my phone and file my claim. This past week Riley had surgery. Healthy Paws reviewed and paid her claim within days. Any questions you can give them a call. They are always there! Great job !
