Not too sure about recent experience
The process was easy because the claim was sent by my veterinarian and that way, I didn't have to worry about the information or wording as appropriate -- BUT....I was not happy with fact it was turned down, saying the surgery removing Skye's adult tooth that was causing problems and would as he grew older; the previous attempts to correct his baby teeth was similar in that the two lower canine teeth needed to be removed so the adult might come in correctly. The reason I was given was that this was a preexisting condition before we put Skye on Trupanion; but we added all three of the dogs changing from Embrace; but Skye was a puppy we had just gotten at the same time we were changing insurance for them....so I understand that wellness is not covered, including prevention of teeth issues by having their teeth cleaned, etc. -- this was surgery and NOT just wellness in my thinking, there fore I was expecting at least some of the cost would be covered....I suppose there is nothing I can do to protest and so don't plan to try but I was very disappointed in the face I had Skye insured and still just paying premium for "nothing"....even partial coverage on the fact it was necessary for his health as he gets older and not just because we wanted him to have nice white, straight teeth for cosmetic reasons.

I switched coverage for my 1year old dog (Dog A) because I adopted a puppy (Dog B) who came with a 30 day trial.
I switched coverage for my 1year old dog (Dog A) because I adopted a puppy (Dog B) who came with a 30 day trial. Before switching I asked about his (Dog A) allergy shots, and was told they would be covered. Then, while filling out the questionnaire for Dog A - it did not ask about any pre-existing conditions. Now, I have found that Trupanion will not cover allergy shots AND anything that presents like allergies - like an ear infection, even though Dog A never had allergies present with anything re: his ears.

Great service. Bad at communication.
The customer service with Trupanion is always great. Unfortunately there was a mix up with the claims and it was very difficult getting it sorted between hospital and Trupanion. Would have liked things to be simpler/easier/more efficient next time. Less hassle and less back and forth.

Good Process with certain exceptions.
It's quite good just sometimes the coverage is not the best which fluctuates the deductible part is always confusing.
